No good news tonight. Sad

Went out again for a bit of a pootle about, local NSL single-track roads to work on my handling, and about 10 miles out my back brake stopped working. Crying or Very sad

Luckily it didn't sieze, quite the opposite in fact. Total play in the pedal and no bite/braking whatsoever.

Ah well, part of the reason for riding it at the moment is to iron out any problems and get them to occur before I try to go anywhere special on it I suppose.

Hoping it's just the shoe linings needing replacing, however Himself reckons that the entire drum lining may have disintegrated which will mean wheel out for major engineering, or possibly even a new back wheel if I can find one.

Bugger. Evil or Very Mad

Has the brake arm pivot fallen off? I imagine this would give total play in the back brake, however the brake arm would probably be dragging along the road.

A good time to learn to use the front brake properly then Smile - stoppy practice?

I'm not sure if I'd notice if my back brake went (well, apart from trying to keep a downshift-slide going, anyway Smile ).

I thought you'd done something impressive, like turned turned it into a big ball of flame while trying to fill up at a petrol station or something! Laughing

Sounds like a linkage problem to me. I am sure you would have noticed in anything in the brake drum disintegrated.
Has the adjusting nut on the end of the brake rod fallen off. Thinking If they still have them.

Was that the Ducati?
Didn't think your 'wet dream' would upset it, stain yes, wreck no. Did it get into the electrics. Mind you, Mrs wave2k is probably jealous it took you as long as 40 seconds Wink Very Happy

the reason none of you know what bike i had was because i had it for 40 seconds.
had an RXS100 for the winter, the gsxr with its bald tyres was becoming a handful, rode the bike round the block wham taxi pulled out.
i went away on a spinal board and i sold the bike for £20 Laughing

Humm, i'll have some guesses at possible causes....

Arrow Master cylinder seals have gone poof!
Arrow the lever snapped behind the pivot
Arrow Mutant mice are conspiring adgainst you, and the one they call "Gnasher" ate your entire rear brake assembly from the inside. Nifty trick, is that!

Lolz @ colin's sig Laughing

That was the K model. The handling actually improved after that Laughing .

Thats because you ride bikes where the braking performance is compromised to improve handling. Hence a high up and far forward weight bias.

All the best
