How much would it cost I am honestly lost.
I have found a few articles about it and one person was saying it would cost $2,000 and another one said $1,300 and that is not including insurance.
I have tried getting qoutes but have not got a reply or a sucessful qoute online.
I mean thats a bit expensive if those prices are true.
I dont know shall I sell the bike or keep looking ?
I mean once converted I would have enough to buy an 02 - 04 bike and maybe insure it.

Chances are it would go by sea.
When someome relocates and wishes to take everything including the kitchen sink, or in your case a damn fine GIXER, then the person would pay for a proportion of one of thise cargo container thingies based on the size of the aforemetioned item(s).
The problem being, if the container is'nt filled, then its not shipped until it is Thus, it could be weeks if not months before the bike gets here.
Then, the VAT man may want a word, may need the lights adjusting and other stuff completed for an MOT, then theres registration to boot.
It may be worthwhile leaving it over there and buying one over here ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

another option would be to ride down to latin america and put it and yourself on a banana boat to southampton, rates are very negotiable depending on whether you sign on as 'crew' or passenger, i've heard of people doing this for next to nothing ... the banana boats have a capacity for about half a dozen passengers as well as crew, if i emigrate to the states i'm seriously considering doing it ........ the boat wont have bananas though - wrong direction .............. wouldnt know where to start looking for a price though, maybe email fyffes to see what ports they use over there ____________________ 1975 CB125s, 1991 GN250, 1990 Ducati Paso 906

If you want to ship the bike then sea freight would be the cheapest option.
For air freight then this site can arrange it. You can enter the from and to destinations to get the quote. Apparently if you ship from Canada it's cheaper than shipping from the U.S.
If you want a holiday then you could also try shipping to Europe then riding into the U.K., e.g. Washington D.C. to Paris = $1,272.00, Washington D.C. to London = $1,357.00.
Another contact is David Grist, owner of HC Travel, [email protected], who might be able to offer shipping advice. In 2003 the quote for shipping a bike from the U.K. to the U.S. was around £400, taking a month to arrange and 2 weeks transport by sea. The company info is here.
This site may also be useful, but bear in mind originally posted in 1993 and need to scroll to the bottom for recent (2004 ish) info.
