hi,
my nsr 125 won't start on the automatic starter. i have a 125R so i don't have a kickstarter. i can push him and then he starts. I have place a new battery about a month ago because i have the same problem. Wath can it be? starter, battery or alternator?.
Sorry for my bad English but i'm speaking normally duth. I'm from Belgium.

Thx for the comments.

What happens when you push the starter button?

Does the engine turn over but not fire, does it not turn and you just hear a click, or is there nothing at all?

Have you got a mulitmeter or a voltmeter to check the battery? it needs to be over 13V. make sure that the connections on the battery are clean and secure. Trace the red positive wire to the starter relay, check the connections again, give the relay a few sharp taps as it may be faulty. Other than that it can only be a faulty starter motor but that is the last thing you will be looking at.

it could be the startor relay and it could be the startor motor. relay is easy 2 replace is behind your airbox , lift the tank up, take the airbox off and u will c it, disconect it and clean the connecttions, check your fuse as well near the battery,
if its the startor motor well gd luck as u need 2 drop the engine 2 take it out.
do u know anyone with an nsr that u can borow there startor relay? i got a spare one so if u live near me u can borow it as they r allways handy 2 keep as spares
thanks

you do not need to drop the engine to take the starter out guru the starter is located at the base of the engine and all you have to do is take off the alternator crank cover and undo the two bolts holding the starter in place you can then pull it free and see if its turning. or if its just clicking but not turning the starter then you possibly need a new starter relay but remember the relay might be sending power but the brushes or the armature in the starter could have died. incidently the honda 125 lead motorbikes have the same type of starter with different size bolts to hold in place and are a lot easier and cheaper to get as replacement. Thumbs Up

mostly it's starter brushes and clogged comutator . take off starter , clean comutator , change brushes and springs , oil ends then it should be okay . download my file https://www.geneva-racing.com/~alains/NSRtips.doc , you will find how to do it
