i suspect this has been done many times but i think my question is a bit differnet.
wen i pass my a2 i wanna get a vfr400 what is the best companys for cheapest insurance for no claims bikers?
i had rampdale for my 125cc and the was pretty cheap at £395,
am i gona be payin big bucks for a restricted 400cc?

I'm 23 with a years no claims and I was getting quotes of around £650 tpft for a CBR400. A FZR600 was around £550.

The SV650 which I ended up settling on cost me an extra £90 on top of the £210 I already paid to insure the planet.

While sort of ontopic of the A2 license..

What does the A2 allow you to ride, with what restrictions?

As far as i am aware DAS is for 21+ only, is A2 sort of the equivalent for under 21's? Confused

A2 is for anyone who passes on a bike 120cc - 125cc with a 33bhp restriction for 2 years, regardless of age, however, people over 21 can skip this step out and go straight onto bigger unrestriced bikes by doing direct access.

People below 21 are limited to this kind of licence until either the two years are up OR if they turn 21 before the two years are up choose to do the direct access, and get the 33bhp restriction taken off.

I'm not sure about A2 but there are 2 category motorcycle licences.

Minimum age of 17 for either test, A1 entitlement allows you to ride up to 125cc and power output not exceeding 11kW (14.6bhp).
If you're under 21, a cat A allows you ride any machine up to 25kW (33bhp) and a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg.
I believe this lasts for 2 years then you can ride any power unrestricted.
If you're 21 or over then A allows any size motorcycle from the get go. Usually referred to as Direct Access.

simeonipicker, try MCE. They were the best for me with 0 ncb, and a lot of other people have said the same.

Phone them up though. When I told the guy my lowest was £800 FC he went away and came back with a sum of around £720. I then said I'd think about trying someone else and he dropped it to £683 Thumbs Up

I'm no expert, i'm looking for insurance as I type, but Bennetts seems to be decent.

I have zero ncb and with a couple fibs I've had a quote of £550 on a restricted (which I didn't mention as it happens) 500cc. Compared with other quotes of £1800 - 3000 from other companies.

There is no 'best company' as each persons individual circumstances are different. Either get a copy of Biketrader and ring around (pain in the arse) or try one of the online insurance comparison sites.

Just out of curiosity, do you guys tell lies when you're looking for quotes?

I've been driving a car three years, with not so much as a bump, and they're still ripping me off, it's embarrassing, and i'm that bitter I have no guilt anymore about telling lies. I don't think I'd even claim under 99% of circumstances anyway, I'd just pay even more in the long-run.

Thanks about the license info guys.....it seems i am on 'A1' (125 restricted to 14.6HP)

I'm gonna give it a couple of year before i take my test i think, or i might do it in about a year so i can take pillions and get rid of damn ugly L plates!!! Shocked

The cheapest insurance i found was rampdale (but i am on a 125, like you were)

Not sure on bigger bikes so i can't help you there mate, sorry Sad
