I think you can buy a replacement for about 7 quid, or you can just ride around and not bother buying a replacement. Then if the rozzers stop you, you can look all innocent and claim you never knew. Whistle They would do a check and see that you have actually purchased tax but must have lost it.

I don't know if there's a penalty for not displaying a valid tax disc, but I'm sure someone on here will know Thumbs Up

well ive reported it, wich prob wasnt best idea! im going to leave it a bit see if it turns up at station. But i found out it is £7 for a replacement, what a rip off! i already paid damn them just send me another.!!
If i ride around without though does it invalidate my insurance?

Try getting an oxford metal looking one where the disc is physically bolted into a tough metal casing so it wont get nicked.

Its so easy for some chav/scallywag/pikey to pull off the little plastic ones.

I believe you don't actually have to display your tax disc on a bike (presumably because so many of them get nicked) but you are supposed to carry it round with you/be able to produce it.

Don't display mine on the bike but carry it in my wallet, been pulled a few times and just tell them the scrotes nick them so its safer to carry it. Or you could photocoppy/scan and print it off and put the copy in the holder and carry th original with you.

The police will know if the bike is taxed/insured before they pull you over with the PNC check anyway. Wink

Some bastard nicked my 125's tax disc and holder!

I mean £15 of tax, was it worth it for a bottle of cheap cider and a packet of fags??? Laughing

do as i do mate, colour photo-copy of real tax disk, write in black letters on it "Copy of original with owner", and then secure your tax disk in your wallet/under seat. Never been a problem for me, and if it gets stolen then it you havent lost out.
