Hay all, rang up twowheeltraining on Saturday for some advice, then got off the phone having booked a CBT for Wednesday, lol ...

Thought i was a good price too: £80 incl. 125cc Bike Hire and Helmet, Jacket if i wanted them (prefere to use my own) ...

But basically i am after some advice for it. I can control my bike perfectly, but im worried that the hire bikes may be totally different. Also, my bike is derestricted and is it much different to be on a restricted macheine ...

Im just getting a little nervouse already Razz ... I'm a very nervouse kind of guy when i comes to things like this Embarassed ...

Hope you lot have some good advice ...

Thanks alot,

Luke.

Thumbs Up

Don't worry about it - you'll be fine.

Just listen to what the instructor says, relax and enjoy it Thumbs Up

You will be fine Smile I passed my CBT yesterday having not ridden a bike in over 3 years.

They give you a good chance to get used to their test bikes. Just remember to ask if unsure of anything and most of all, enjoy it! Mr. Green

I was full of nerves when I did my cbt but I got myself to relax and found the day fun. Basic tips - Listen to instructor, just relax, look, look, look.
I got onto a bike to do my cbt and I had only ridden in fields a few times so you should be fine. Very Happy

Saying i can control it, went out just now, decided to try it with my helmet as i dont wear it (i will on the roads of course Razz) and my god is it different, u dont get the same feel, the same sounds and it was like it was my first go on a bike ever Sad ...

Think i might have to get myself on my bike for a few hours tomorow with my helmet on so i can get used to it ... Plus my god is it hot in the lid ... one of the hottest days of the year today and my god, i was in it for 10 mins and had to take it off Shocked ... I need to get used to having a lid on ...

Was expecting as good a'run as i got on Saturday, wich filled my to the brim of confidence as i was blitzing it, in total control no worries at all ... Lid on today i came off a nervouse wreck and nearly lost it once ... Shows you how much difference it can make to wearing a lid, but seeing as even if it wasnt a legal requirement to wear one i would ... i need to get used to it ASAP ...

Luke.

As you've found out, it does make a big difference with the helmet on.

I also found it hard to wear gloves as i was used to riding off road without them. Try get some thin leather ones that alow your fingers to move freely, rather than the big bulky gauntlet style ones that have loads of padding in. It helps a lot when you are fumbling about for the indicator switch.

Gloves are fine as ive always worn them, its just the lid wich has caught me off-guard here ... Shocked

I hope i can used to it in one day (tomorow, as i've run out of fuel Razz) ...

I had my cbt on a 125 on saturday. I was the only one there who had never been on a bike before or didn't drive a car. I didn't have any problems at all.

you'll be fine.

You'll be fine mate. A decent school should start by running through all the basics with you and gradually progress.

I'd definately advise using your own helmet if nothing else. The first cbt place I went was shit as the helmet didn't fit properly and my head fucking ached for hours afterwards.

What you could do if its hot is has the visor up and wear some sunglasses as the cool air rushing in does help. Bear in mind though that this time of year you get a lot of shit flying at the visor such as flies and water from windscreen squirters.

I did my CBT about 3 weeks ago (passed DAS last week) the only advice i would give you as the training school failed two lads for this reason is learn the highway code, iv drove a car for 8 years so knew how the roads worked but these two lads could ride but didnt have a clue where to give way etc. If you have a car licence then you have nothing to worry about.
