Been looking for a GS500 recently and found one only 4 miles from me. It's the GS500f version 2004, manufacturers guarantee, Datatool alarm and immobiliser, serviced and comes with 2 disc locks and bike cover. All for £2000. This seems like a good deal to me.

Is there anything in particular I should look at or be careful of that is specific to the GS?

Maybe £2000 is a little high? How many miles has it done? I sold my 2005 GS500F, 3 months old with 1200 miles on the clock for £2500. And they're actually quite cheap to buy brand new anyway - mine only cost £3500 new last year.

Thanks, that's the kind of advice I need. I have at max 2000 to spend. It's got 11,000 miles on it and it's the cheapest one I can find after 2004. If anyone on the forum is selling something similar in the west sussex area I'm open.

I've heard that gs500's sometimes have problems with rust, where exactly is the worst?

I've found something for you. Even if it's too much money, it gives you something else to compare.

Groombridges Motorcycles in Heathfield, East Sussex are selling a GS500 naked on their web site https://www.jwg.co.uk/ for £2399. It's a 2005 plate with just 360 miles and they say it's immaculate and had one owner. Bearing in mind this is a dealer, it does make the one you were looking at for £2000 with 11,000 miles on an 04 plate too expensive I reckon.

Thanks, I guess I may have to reconsider it. It's a shame as the conveniance of it being so close is a big plus.
