Anythink with over 50-60% worth of DEET in it is meant to be good as DEET is one of the best chemicals at repling biting insects so having the pure stuff on clothing equpment etc is probley the best you can get with out a phisycal fly net.

A squaddie friend of mine swears by (ahem...) Avon skin so soft.
He reckons that since he's been (erm...) moisturising with this the gnats/midgies leave him alone!

(Must be the cheap scent then) Laughing

We've had loads of those tiny thin 2mm long things, they were absolutely swarming for about 3 days last week. It makes you feel like your skin and hair is constantly crawling. The worst past is they come in through all the vents in the lid, blasted through into eyes and mouth. Little bastards.

DEET does work if it is sufficiently strong.

It is quite a nasty chemical though so use it sparingly, only on exposed skin and preferrably on your clothing rather than your skin.

I usually put two squirts in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together then wipe them over my face, neck, forearms and round my ankles (to stop the little buggers going up my trouser legs). Don't forget to do your ears.

Don't get it on your lips or eyelids and make sure you wipe it off your hands before handling anything plastic or you'll melt it.

Mozzies? Pah, nothing compared to those nasty vindictive female Horseflies.

Those things damn hurt and you don't notice them until it's too late, then you have a swelling the size of a golfball for a week. Gits Twisted Evil

Deet is great, but I really do worry about using a chemical that was developed by the US Army!! Laughing

DEET!! , that shit burns you skin if strong enough

take it like a er woman ,

or piss into a bucket and keep it outside , sweat contains tiny amounts of urea salt or something , which is what mozzies use to detect you.

Or be nasty if you have a BF sabotage his showers so he stinks mozzies will go after him.

Or hit the problem at source , go find the pools of stagnant water they lay their eggs in and pile on several spades of sand/soil , if its bigger stagnant still water put some hardy fish intothem like stickle backs which'll eat the mozzies while they are laying their eggs.

Lakes and rivers don't count as its moving water

I got really caught out by the gits a month or so ago in Snowdonia. A black swarm descended on us as I was erecting the tent.

It only took me 10 minutes maximum but next day I noticed they'd got me just above the waistline where I'd been stooping over around 50-60 times Shocked

We have an electronic flyswat in the flat.
It makes a satisfying crack, and small puff of smoke when you make contact.
