Hopefully, I may actually have the FZR back on the road this weekend Praying and I was thinking in the shower of all places, where to ride, what to do, when to check stuff etc when all of a sudden I get a rush of butterflies and feel almost scared at the thought of falling off again.

I think it was my fault for dumping the clutch with loads of revs that may have caused the bike to loose control, but what if it wasn’t down to that Eh?

Over the weekend, we crossed from Essex into Kent to go shopping, upon the return, we used the tunnel, and it almost gave me a shudder driving past where I had the accident. The pain in my shoulder still persists nearly 4 weeks on; the thought of landing on it in a spill makes me feel sick.

I’m not sure whether this is one of the reasons for dismantling the bike, if its in pieces then I cant ride it Laughing

The 1st test run will be a nervous one.

Anyone else feel like this after a spill or accident?

yeas, very much so.
whenever i go past one of the spots i am extra careful. (sometimes get a small flashback or summit) chills you to the bone sometimes. and i have huge issues about front end confidence as my front wiped out on my last 3 crashes. i am only now starting to brake hard with the front. i dont know how i passed the test, cos i really was scared of th front brake.

get on and start riding. let the pain/memories remind you to ride safe. But but no more than that.

Have you investigated what was causing the dodgyness?

That’s the thing.

I have taken things apart, cleaned and replaced, the engine fires like a dream and sounds healthy enough. Everything so far has worked, but the bike has remained stationary for one reason or another. The real test will be on the open road, changing up and down the gears, accelerating, breaking and cornering.

I think in the back of my mind is that something will go wrong when I am out and about testing the bike.

It doesn’t help that I have not ridden in 4 weeks and then that was for 20 minutes. I was bike less for previous 4 weeks prior to that as well. The amount of riding experience so far following my test is piss poor due to mechanical reasons.

Dont worry, just keep the clutch and brake covered and it wont shoot off like some mechanical bucking bronco Mr. Green and make sure you spend a lot more time in the saddle at all kinds of speeds.

I'm in the 600cc bargain bucket category too, with my new ancient cibber jelly mould. Hasnt given any cause for concern yet, but I'm keeping an ear out for warning noises...

If you still feel THAT scared a few minutes into your ride i'd turn around and get back off the bike.
Don't think it's a very good idea to be on the road if your minds in that much of a tizz.

I had an 01 R6 that I got knocked off in May and wrote the bike off, last Monday I bought a K1 Gixxer 600, got knocked off filtering on Friday..... Embarassed

My journey to work involves A road commuting, to be honest I have never felt as nervous as I do at present, constantly waiting for the late indicating from a car about to do something inexplicable, leaving me bruised and skint.

The nerves thing is something that you (and me) will have to work through, just a reminder to take things easy - even though I'm letting scooters overtake at the moment...... Sad
