spoolserv problems

my pc freezes after i print 1 page. It seems to be a problem with spoolserv.exe, which wont close down after printing.
Anyone know how this can be fixed, or do i have to reload windows. ?

How do i know if they are up to date ?
Where do i look ?

you can print a test page that will show the version number.

or in device manager or through the software that was installed with the printer or just go to the printer manufacturers website and download and install the latest ones anyway.
