Just set out to do some round-about surfing, got about 15 minutes in to the ride when I tipped the bike on its left hand side and got this strange sensation of moving horizontally instead of forwards.
The bloody dipstick from the oil tank (dry sump engine) was completely AWOL, and my foot, shin, peg, hugger and tire were now sporting my engines oil!
I plugged the dipstick hole with a discarded fag packet and made it home in one piece, the engine sounds perfect still and luckily there was still some oil in the tank (so it would still have been pumping).
A quick blast with the belt sander on the paddock stand and the tire is now oil-free again, unlike my boot.
And what of the dipstick? In my garage. If I had crashed, I would've pretended it vibrated out. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |
