HD backing up.

My main pc has a 180gb Hard drive that uses the OS and all my main documents.

I also have a 250gb external Hard drive and am looking to get another (probably 300gb) since I've filled the 1st one with lots of films.

Obviously I don't want to lose the data on the 250gb one so am looking to buy another 250gb HD just for the sole purpose of sitting inside my pc and being used for back ups. What I don't know is:

- What decent software is there for backing up such large amounts?
- And if say, I backed up all the data on the 250gb HD, what size would it comrpess down to, considering it's all .avi files?

Should really have backed up all the films onto dvd but that'd take 'yonks'.

On a different note...anyone else got a vast collection on their HD that they might want to....well....pm me.

For this sort of thing I've always used Symantec Ghost. Great at compression, can do whole drive images then just restore specific files. I'm sure someone has a back up version of it somewhere!!!
