Anyone use them for Broadband?

I've just upped my package to get it sorted ready for when I get a home PC back. The package looks great, but they say it won't be installed until the middle to end of September!

Taking the piss or what!

Just want to know if anyone is using them and what they think.

if all you want is web-browsing and email, they work okay.

I wanted a 24/7 always on connection, and I had lots of reconnects, and reassignments of IP address while online, not only at startup. it also didn't like my file-sharing software, and didn't allow me to connect to several DirectConnect hubs that I use.

When I left them, I was asked why, and I told them I wasn't impressed with the level of service. they didn't seem particularly surprised.

I'd recommend somewhere else tbh, unless you just want web and mail.

It's mainly web and mail. Though I do plan a bit of gaming. We are in a good area for their 8Mb, 40Gb cap package. It's just so much cheaper than anywhere else £20 for Broadband, line rental and free landline calls. Haven't found anything better yet!

The reconnects is worrying though, and you say talk talk isn't always on? Crappy dial up box type thing?

I was gonna go with talk talk till I found out about a few things about them.

Like they use LLU (Local loop unbundling), which means you'll never get the full speed quoted, and if they're are lots of people on at the same time in your area you'll get a piss poor speed too.

The also throttle Peer to peer connections, and block some important ports too.

And according to readers reviews they aren't very reliable!

Also the reason why they are saying that it will be september is cos your local exchange hasn't been unbundled, and will be done in due course.

I in the end have decided to go with F2S, an ISP whom I know and my line will be active in 5-7 days according to them!
And I only pay £14.99 and get up to 8meg with a 40Gb cap.
