Hello.
im a new user and im really into bikes, ever since i rode on one a couple of times - freedom, acceleration, traffic, free parking !!!
I am 17 and going to take my cbt, and i would like to have a nice bike with the following conditions:

the bike should be reliable

have good acceleration,

look nice

fuel efficient

a nice enough top speed,

and cheap ( around a grand)

i dont really like the boring "cg125" kinda shapes and also the racing bikes (because they are too small)

i would like help choosing an enduro / super moto because they look briliant (well... to me)

ive checked out the aprilia mx50 (slow), honda xr125 (bit big), dt125 (not fuel efficient - bout 40mpg!!)

i just want help !!!!!!!!!!

thanks Thumbs Up

oh yeh, if the mx50 is derestricted, can you run it on a cbt licence?

As long as your 17 you can derestrict a 50cc. Why don't you look at getting an A2 restricted license? If you stay with the cbt have a look at bikes like the Yamaha ybr125 etc. Good luck

u can run upto a 125 on cbt lisence with L plates and no passengers, but with only 14BHP, and when u pass the test you can ride without L plates, with passengers and at 33BHP

i duno much about bikes really.. but passed my CBT on a 125 geared bike yesterday and they were the rules given to me..

I would suggest taking your A2 test personally, it's the route i took; i'm 17 and i'm riding a Suzuki Bandit 600S.
restricted to 33bhp mind you, but still fast, and still pretty fuel efficient as well.

Only problem being the expense.
My mate has got the Honda MX125 and loves it, so from what he says, i'd say go for that, or something similar.

HTH

no if its an illegal de restriction.

if its legal you can de restrict it,

you can ride ANY bike as long as its not over 125cc and 14BHP ( with L plates, 33BHP once you passed test )

You don't want an MX50 as it does not really fit any of your requirements. You will need to be looking then at a 125cc supermoto style bike instead. Id say go for a supermoto, instead of an enduro style bike for road use, because the tyres, brakes and suspension are far better for the road. A supermoto version of an existing bike like the DT125R, will also be a bit lower in seat height, about 30-40mm less in most cases. If your a tall lad then a Supermoto is a good option, and they are a bit more in reach of people who are that bit too short to touch the floor when sat on a Trail/enduro machine.

If you want cheap to run, (i.e. 4 stroke fuel economy) and a fast acceleratiing bike with a decent (for a 125) top speed, then you have to compromise a bit. You can't have performance and fuel economy together from a small bike though! The 40ish mpg of the DT125X isn't that bad at all for a 2 stroke 125, but if your doing long distances and alot of miles, 5000m+ a year, then possibly a fourstroke is a better option?

Also it depends on your budget and if your looking to buy new or used? There's quite a few 125cc Supermoto bikes around now, i hav'nt ridden any of them, but i think the MZ125SM and Reiju MRX125 are some of the best looking four stroke bikes. The DT125X, Aprilia MX125, or Husqvarna SM125 would be near the top of my list though!

im looking more on the 'cheap to run' side of things, but i dont like to be left at the traffic lights aswell !! the mx50 i think is ok because i dont have a large budget and it is cheap on insurance and fuel...

if i can derestrict a mx50, will it be legal on a CBT only licence? ( i dont have time to take the proper test right now because of college and stuff)

so for now i would like it to be aliitle fast ( obviously faster than mopeds ) and over about 70mpg ...

otherwise i will have to settle for the cg125 Sad
