Has anyone been to this concert? If so what was it like?

I want to go this year as my only concert with my mate, the lineup looks ok but I am really only going to go to see Children of Bodom as they are one of the most immense bands ever to grace God's green planet. The lineup is:

Slayer
In Flames
Lamb of God
Children of Bodom
Thine Eyes Bleed

I have heard of a few but I am worried that it's going to be a full on Goth fest (Good because there won't be a trace of emo present, bad because I am not a Goth and they are kind of weird).

Tickets are £27.50 and it is in M.E.N. Arena Manchester on the 3rd of November, anybody been there, or live somewhere close?

Cheers. Karma

Apart from In flames that is going to rock.

Goths? I doubt it. Metallers every where mate. Might go myself.

To be honest I am actually looking forward to it and am going to have decided whether to go quite soon, so once I have booked I will post. Would be cool if other people went though, trying to get a few mates up for it, only one so far.

I'm going to that one, front standing. Should be good, was full of kids last time cos of Slipknot, but that just made getting to the front even easier.

It's pretty easy to get there too; just go along Snake Pass, get to Manchester and then M.E.N Arena is signposted.

Anyone know what Thine Eyes Bleed are like?

I think you'll find most emos like a lot of metal as well, went to trivium at the astoria and it was literally packed with the little crying 12 year olds Rolling Eyes

Didn't anyone tell you that Trivium is "metal" for emo kids?

Trivium isn't metal, wash your mouth out.

Lol stepped right in it there. Don't know what you would class my music taste as then, it ranges from trivium, killswitch engage, metallica, pantera, system to avenged sevenfold.

The only bands i have heard of (and like) at the unholy alliance are slayer and in flames.

Pure f*ckin' noise and shouting. Death metal basically. Not bad though. Be cool live.

Not heard of Children of Bodom? Dear God, there is no hope Sad

I like bands like Maiden, Pantera, System, Bodom, Metallica and I disagree with the rest of the bands, especially Trivium, they are pants.

This'll be the third time of seeing CoB, getting a bit sick of seeing them Laughing Getting a bit more commercial now for my liking, still better than most though. Can't help but cringe a bit at lyrics like "I don't give a fucking fuck motherfucker" even if it is tongue in cheek Thumbs Up.

Have they done a cover of that pop song that goes "Feels like somebody's watching me"? Could swear I'd heard someone playing it a few weeks ago

Yeah I don't like those lyrics either, but the rest of it and the talent Alexi Laiho possesses makes up for it ten fold.

Could have been 'Somebody put something in my drink' originally by The Ramones.

I prefer to use the word 'improved' over 'covered'.

Seen CoB live at Wacken Open air in 2004. Best band there! They're playing again this year. Yep, I'm going again this year too. Best thing is, Emperor are headlining! Mr. Green

Not sure now after listening to In Flames and Thine Eyes Bleed who aren't really that good but it's just Children of Bodom won't be playing again for ages so I am tempted to go just for them even if they have about a 30 minute set.

Plus I bet the mosh pit there will be mental. Laughing

It's not, I've heard that song far too many times before and it wasn't that. perhaps it was another abnd, but it certainly sounded like CoB

Maybe it was a different song because I know they did that one.
