My centre channel in my 5.1 system is picking up the sound of some woman speaking in a foreign language...

This used to happen before in my old house...

What is it likely to be? Mobile Convo, Radio Station?

I am also interested in this, my mates centre channel also picked up the talking and we used to laugh about it, the first time he heard it it was at night and it scared him. Laughing

I get it sometimes when taxi's come past and the drivers are on the radio.
Also, when I was learning to ride a bike with the instructor and wearing a headset I would often hear a woman talking when we passed the office of a taxi firm.
Years ago I was visiting a friend who lived about 400 yards from where I lived. She had a young baby who was asleep upstairs and the baby alarm was switched on. We were having a cuppa together and suddenly through the baby alarm we heard guitar playing. My friend started complaining, saying she needed to keep the alarm switched on in case her baby woke but the guitar playing was driving her mad. I started blushing because I recognised the silly little ditties that were being played and knew that my friends alarm was picking up the alarm in my house. I'd obviously left it on and it was my husbands guitar playing that we were hearing! Spookie eh!

Haha my other half gets this on his speakers. It's some twat on a CB radio. Sad bastard. That's the CB radio dude, not my other half!

Anyway, a ferrite around the cable should sort it out I believe. I think that's what it's called. Perhaps someone who knows more about speakers than me will comfirm this.

It'll be the radio, it's common and happens a hell of a lot in speaker systems, nothing to worry about. The circuitry in the speakers can sometimes act like an antenna and low frequency radio is picked up, this is probably LW or SW radio, and you're picking it up from France or somewhere.

My friend used to get any radio signal that was nearby, he got police, and fire the most though..

It shit him up the first time, as the speakers had no volume, but were still on Laughing

Yeah, HF radio does that a lot, especially if you broadcast on high power. The speaker doesn't even have to be turned on, the coils are energised by the magnetic field.

A sufficiently strong signal will light up filament bulbs without them being connected to anything.

When I was in the TA, we used to use the vehicle radio set on the uber-broadcast, only use in case of emergency setting with a directional antenna in the back to 'tease the box' at McDonalds drive-throughs from some distance away.

A friend of mine had a radio set out of a pathfinder mosquito from the second world war. He had an agreement with his neighbours that he would only use it for 30 minutes, once a week because it turned every TV set for 1/2 a mile to snow with his broadcast bleeding through the speakers.
