Aye its a good video that watched it quite a few times.

This is the guys website he came back a while ago but spent about 5 years on the road.

It makes me wonder what the hell do you do after travelling for all that time? Go back to work?

Makes me wonder what the hell you do to be able to afford to go for 5 years in the first place! Must have at least 50k spare to start with!

Nick Sanders also went around the world on an R1 I believe.
He's written a few books about his travels and done TV series, etc.

Remember a lot of countries are cheaper to live in that the UK, especially if you're "wild camping" leaving your bills just food and bike consumables.

Having been looking into 'adventure' riding a bit, it's often pointed out that 90% of the riding is usually done on roads and I'm sure you could make that more higher; so if anything a fast street bike makes more sense.
You can ride a sports bike on gentle off road ok, it just takes a bit more concentration and a bit lower speed.
