ok here it is in short.

my next door neighbour had 2dogs. they bark the bloody day and night. he's went and got another 3 dogs Confused

basically, my dad's had enough, he suffers from chronic insomnia. among other things. recently he's lost both parents and now he's just going bonkers , was planning on knocking their shed down. which extends into my garden abit.

my folks have phoned the council ages ago. and i emailed the head of enviromental health.

any ideas what to do if this fails. anyone know any tricks to get them to react.

You can buy these collars that release a quick blast of smell/buzzing/electricity whenever the dog barks loud enough to trigger it. The RSPCA use them a lot on troublesome dogs.

However that is a 'worst case scenario' as the above is both expensive and a bit harsh on the dog when 9/10 it's something the owner is doing wrong not the animal.

My advice would be to ring the RSPCA and speak to them. Check out their FAQ page on dogs. I've already opened up the relevant question for you.

In usual circumstances, I would have said fight fire with fire, and play somthing that is sure to piss them off, very loud, with speakers/subs facing into their wall, however with your Dad being sensitive to loud noises, I dunno what to say.. Sad

You could always buy your dad some of them industrial ear defenders so he can get a decent nights kip Thumbs Up

https://www.spservices.co.uk/images/ar014.jpg

Then get a few pair for the rest of the family to wear so you can put all the stereos in the house to the same radio station on full blast and do this everytime the dogs are load. That will soon teach them to get something done about their dogs. Thumbs Up

How to deal with noisy dogs in 3 creative ways....

1). Grab the offedning mutt by its ears ( if its is a large mutt rap your arms in old innertubes) bend it over and kick its arse repeatedly until it is scared of you. Most dogs will be quiet shy and quiet when they see something they are scared of.

2). Shave the dog compeltely so it does not want to come outside and bark anymore.

3). If all else fails give it anti-freeze for supper.......

if there's an adjoining internal wall, put some speakers hard up agains t it, and play a recording of barking dogs at full volume. An unrelated noise (music, shouting, bikes) won't send him the right message, he'll just think you're a noisy cock; but playing the same noise back at him, he might get the message.

the cousil will to sweet fa about it! i lived beside barking dogs of which i could even smell through my bedroom window and the owner even used to beat the dog and the rspca wouldnt even do a thing about it! who will?

i though about setting the dog free but the dam thing was loyal no matter how many kicks it took to the face i witnessed in the street infront his own kids.

i eventually had to move cause he decided to try punch me one day, though got a kick in the balls from me and i was near done for common assult!

where is justice?

well got an email back from the council this morning.

gotta go home and speak with the parents about it.

the guy has gotten onto the dog warden.

5 dogs in a council house. its well in breach of the tennents agreement.

we've two dogs (yorkshire terriers, of the non barking type, thanks to my dad training them not to) but my folks own the place.

will also record the barking. and then prehaps play it back. or record it on the dictaphone for evidence

I sympathise, i work nights (so nice to have atleast abit of sleep in the day) and next door have had a dog for about 12 months and it has just been non stop barking

Now im a patient and understanding guy and realise it takes time to adjust for an animal

But this is taking the p1ss!

I've tried shouting at the dog/owner/rspca/dog wardens/noise pollution people/police

Doesnt help so i usually do what feef said i downloaded two the types of dog yapping growling and barking, as we have an adjoining wall i used a couple of diff speakers and put them all on cd and on repeat

Neighbour came round after a couple of days tryin to work out a sollution so it has worked in a way

I have a dog and it does bark at times.

Sometimes only way to stop him barking it to be there, to hold his mouth shut.

Sometimes he will hear the neighbours dog bark and then bark

probably easier to move house than get the neighbour to give up his dogs
i doubt your dad would be keen on this idea though

Get a packet of turkey chunks and a box of rat poison. Cook turkey chunks, put on rubber gloves and stuff chunks with rat poison. Lob over fence. Should do the trick.
