I find it really embarassing when a spider puts a web on my bike and at the end of a ride it's still there. I really do ride that slow Embarassed

I found one in my old scooter's indicator. Had been in there for a while, but it just made itself a house of web and then died leaving a crispy construction in my indicator

A blowtorch, mustard gas, agent orange and napalm should all work equally well in irradicating the little blighters!

I used to get spider webs on my bike aswell...that was untill I got a bike cover. Now they don't seem to bother, which is a good thing because I wouldn't want to be out riding and have a big, hefty mofo of a spider crawling up my arm and into my jacket or helmet!

So my advice would be to get a bike cover...or just you your gloves to destroy them before riding.

thats what i fear. i dont mind spiders that much, but the initial shock of seeing a big spider near your hand might not be the healthiest thing when speeding down the road

I use the bike alot. It just that where my house is situated there is an unhealthy amount of spiders. its spider-land. and living inside the plastics crevices seems to be perfect for the little blighters.

i do always kill em when i see em on the bike.

when i see em in the flat i catch them and let them out humanely. but go near the bike and its a death scentance.

In theory any insecticide should work.

They all work by getting into the airways of the invertebrate (insects breathe through their arse basically) and causing abit of mayhem.

So fly/flea/moth spray should all work the same on spiders.

Set off the odd bug bomb.

Not bike I'm afraid, but I took my car to France last year with a spider living behind the wing mirror. It came all the way with me and I even think it brought a friend home :/

I get that too, little bastards choose my bike (really the most uncomfortable in the garage) over a Fazer600 and a huge seated 125 beast ped, I really hate those little mudprints Evil or Very Mad

I like to imagine that the spiders that live behind my mirrors, and only emerge at high are speed, are like little arachnid adrenaline junkies, riding their webs in a surf-dude stylee.
If they could talk they would probably say something along the lines of 'woah, gnarly duuuuude'.
Maybe i should stay off the 'Jamaican Woodbines' for a bit.
Confused

If you use it daily, they probably hop on for the warmth. That's also why you'll find footprints on a car bonnet, but not usually the roof.

I use the bike every day to get to work and still regularly find the beginnings of a web (usually around the mirrors and handlebar) in the morning. They work fast, they do Shocked.

spiders like all invertibrates cannot focus their vision much beyond 15cm. So don't worry, they can't actually see you. They can detect changes in light so will know a large object is near them but i can assure you, they are more scared of you than you are of them Wink
