Do you think that snobbery exists in the biking community?

Got any strange looks when on a ride out?

Do you, or have you looked down on someone because of there outdated or scruffy ride, maybe their old 2nd leathers, shinney unscuffed sliders or the mahoosive chicken strips.

Is their a biking hierachy? Supersports on top and peds at the bottom?

Yes and everyone sees it differently.

Usually including the people that say 'but we're all bikers', who often can be seen looking down on those that don't say that Smile.

So long as your enjoying yourself its not of any consequence..

I'll nod to anything (even peds if they nod first, which is very rare indeed)

Not everyone on two wheels would run out and buy a brand new sports bike/harley/gs if they could Wink

Biking involves money and within money is a subliminal hierachy where the more you spend the higher up the social ladder you appear to be.

Depends, some of those that don't spend money would place those that do lower down the ladder Smile.

All depends on your perspectice.

i like my sort of reverse snobbery..

I don't have the latest super-sports machine.. It isn't all shiny and polished, but I do have several bikes I can chose from, and turning up on a new machine for 4 consecutive rideouts soon shuts up any weekend warriors Very Happy

I've said it before, a twat is a twat no matter what they ride/drive, doesn't matter to me.

Oh yes! two blokes turned up at our local bike meeting place, one on a Neil Hodgeson relica and one on a Troy Bayliss replica Ducati.

It was quiet so me and the missus went over to look at the bikes, shes a big Ducati fan, and to maybe have a chat with the blokes. they had all the top of the range gear and were taking photos of each other stood near their bikes and completely blanked us.

A nice couple on Blackbirds parked the other side of us commented on how stuck up they were and we ended chatting to them for the next hour.

FWIW I'll admit to looking down on the weekend power ranger brigade whos' bikes never see rain, or for some reason any decent mileage.

I think this is partly because IMO they're trying to look down on me with the attitude we've got money to burn buying the latest bike, mods for it and matching gear every year and you're still riding that old thing.

As G said, just my view Karma

Lets not tarnish all Ducati riders, I ride one (when I can be arsed) and have no problem chatting to anyone who is interested in the bike.

I look down on people who buy the latest, fastest bike and all the gear then ride like an idiot when they obviously aren't in control.

Like the guy on the big Gixxer thou with matching leathers who came honking past me on the A82 the other weekend. Doing about 140 along the straight then slammed on the anchors and wobbled round the corners for the next five miles while deliberately blocking me from passing him (on my 500). He is a dick, simple as.

I also have a certain disprespect for the banzai billies who go hammering up and down some of my favourite roads, doing blind overtakes, battering through the towns and villages and crashing themselves into ditches/fields/trees/other vehicles. This has the net result that the likes of the road up to Glencoe are now crawling with police to the extent where it is hardly worth going.

I often mutter "Twat!" inside my helmet when I see them.

People who ride like twats get my contempt, no matter what they are riding and how they are dressed - like the grown man on the ped on the way home today, with BMW indicators - cutting across my path and the lines of traffic without a care in the world.

People don't always buy fast bikes/car because they have a small dick. Laughing

Its because they have more ££££. Whats the point of driving a ford mondeo if you can afford to drive a tvr tuscan??

The only bikers I look down on, are those im talking to either on smaller bikes(i.e monkey bikes, minimotos etc), and those who are sitting down. Because I like to look at people when I talk to them! Confused Rolling Eyes Wink Laughing
