i'd like a bike that will put a smile on my face when i take it out for a ride out, be able to commute on every day and not be too heavy on fuel, the ability to tour long distances with large amount of luggage in relative comfort and also handle basic off-roading such as dirt path etc. The kind of bike of looking for would probably be an enduro. My budget is around £2000-£2500 and not too old

you are thinking of an enduro bike then its going to be fine for the offroad stuff but useless on road, they wont carry much luggage and drink petrol all of them are single pot and not really up for long distance road riding, ok they can but then you can ride a c90 around the world but they are great bikes for anything really are they. but for all the stuff you have described its a BMW r80 or similar, they are oldish but they are reliable as hell and they will carry a shed load of luggage and you comfort around the world, they dont drink fuel only a bit of oil like all BMW flat twins. not sure on the actual bmw model buts its the one that can before the current big trialies
