Hi

Survey you might want to complete:-

https://www.pacts.org.uk/beyond2010

Read the questions carefully. Note they have put "speeding" as the first in the list of accident causes to make it stand out a bit more.

All the best

Keith

Thanks for the link Keith.

I noted down that I believe roadside furniture such as lamp posts, trees, fences posts kill/injure a lot of bikers, and that the government should be researching roadside safety devices to limit these injuries.

Young and newly qualified drivers are disproportionately involved in road crashes. What do you think would be the best way to tackle this problem?

Provide better training, make the hazard test more interactive and introduce more stringent training methods that teach someone how to drive well, and safely rather than learning how to pass a test once.

It is estimated that up to a third of all road deaths are people driving as part of their job. What do you think would be the best way to tackle this problem?

Make it compulsory for employers to send employed drivers on an advanced driving course.

Mile for mile, riders of powered two wheelers are 40 times more likely to be killed than car occupants. What do you think would be the best way to tackle this problem?

Introduce CBT as part of Car training (Disabilities permitting), make learner drivers much more aware of vulnerable motorists and actively learn how to interact with them on the road in real life circumstances.

Couldn't possibly comment.

But you might want to give your replies rather than the ones the survey is trying to guide you towards.

All the best

I questioned whether it really was a problem given that no doubt at least that proportion of miles travelled are as part of peoples job.

All the best

That was fun, I made good use of the comments boxes to talk about better road maintenance and deisel spills and the removal of unecessary street furniture. As this was a survey aimed at road safety professionals, if quite a few of us did it, I think it is realistic to hope that we couls skew the resulls significantly. Thanks Keith

I found the survey good until the last few questions, which I felt were leading and unbalanced. So that's what I put in the boxes...
