Alright Chaps and Ladies.

I'm currently a UK car driver. I'm looking to get a bike that will suit me for transport to and from the city as a car is skinning me on petrol and insurance.

I live in Belfast, NI. So, what steps are there in getting a licence for a low CC bike for just running around.

I've been adviced on an Honda NSX - But, truth be told I'm utterly new to the world of motor cycles.

My budget after selling my car will be between 500~1000 quid, I'd really much rather stay to the lower end of that budget mind you!

To summarise:

What sort of licence will I need, how difficult is it to obtain?
What sort of starting bike would the experts recommend for a new biker?
Whats the general price for insurance for said bike (I'm 23 years old)?

Some help?

Not sure if liscencing rules are the same over there but a full car licence means with a cbt (compulsory basic training, one day course) you can ride a 125cc, insurance varies on the bike - the smaller the cheaper, no test needed Thumbs Up

that is assuming he got his lisence before a certain year,

really i'd reccomend doing a cbt, (cumpulsory basic training) this will let you ride a 125cc, are you looking for a scooter? or a bike, if so what kind?

if you can get a bike trader near you, get a copy and look at what there is to offer to get some kind of idea of what youd like.

If car insurance is killing you now you definately don't want an NSX!

You're thinking of an NSR125 Razz

I'd say get your CBT done on a geared bike, and then ask them nicely if you could try a scooter for a little bit as well, see which one you like.
