hi thought id clean the air filter on my nsr while its in bits:( and took it out and its dry on my other bikes air filters they have had a coat of oil on them should the nsr also have oil in it or not? cheers ____________________ cbt passed 01/07/2006 bike:92 dt 125 and 96 honda cr 250

It needs oil on it, Stinkwheel wrote up his method not long ago and it works perfectly
"You can get specific air filter oils but I usually use 2-stroke. After advice form someone else I have used the technique of washing it in warm soapy water then rinsing through with warm water.
Now comes the cunning bit. Whilst it is still damp, pour a little of the oil over the sponge (about 1/2 eggcupfull in total) then wring it out. You get a coludy emulsion of oil and water coming out which effectivley spreads the oil evenly over the whole filter and leaves a nice thin coating all over the filter material once it is dry.
