I think the frame on my speedfight might have been bent in a small slow speed topple a few months back when my friend dropped it trying to do a u-turn

the reason i think this is because the back side of the front fork rubs against the underside of the front underpannel when i trun hard right. and because the bodywork plastics near the low front of the bike have been pushed outwards a few millimitres and the is a small gap where before it was a snug fit.

immediately after the crash the handling was pretty much knackered but i took it to the mechanic & he he fixed it. i think by inching the ignition away from the handlebars a few mils with a crowbar because it was rubbing (yeah i know)

now my question is, is it possible to replace the frame, or would it mean the bike is a complete write-off if the fame IS a little bit twisted?

I would not think you would bend the frame just doing a u turn.
what bike is it.

I too would be surprised if the frame was bent. I have been amazed at what they can take at high speed slides.
Chances are that a full strip down of the plastics will identify a hanger or two which have twisted, and everything is set to those.
To be sure take off the platics and then use a steel rule to measure the distance between the forks and the frame. It is also possible that the forks twisted in the triple trees, and after supporting the bike and then loosening the whole of the front end you will find it back in line again.

speedfight.

it was only a u-turn but it was a well awkward topple and the handlebars sort of whipped round and the underside of the front wheel hit against the kerb. he was trying to accelerate and turn at the same time. im not sure exactly how it fell because i was quite a distance away. definately feels like somehting is bent though.

when i put it on the stand and turn the handlebars left theres a bit of resistance at the extreme and it feels springy. almost like the wheenl is at an odd angle with the ground. instead of just smoothly turning left and right freely and stopping at the extremes.

it might just be your handle bars have turned on the shaft if you know what i mean, so the old full lock left is less now but you can turn it more to the right, the same idea as a push bike, you slacken the top bolt and the handles turn but not the wheel, scooters use the same idea so maybe take the top pannel off and check it, mine did this just by my mate dropping it on grass.

Hi,
A few peds I've had felt spongy to turn sometimes, this was due to the wiring from the bars to the frame not being routed too well or the manufacturer being cheep and not giving you enough wire Wink
