hi all. the reason i wanted to start this thread is beacause i have just picked up a hack bike to use. it is a 1993 k plate ntv 650 and it has done 98567miles . its the highest milage bike i have ever seen. i also have every mot its had to comply with this. i have clocked up 800 miles on it without it burning a drop of oil and it runs like a sowing machine. cheers. jamie

That's a very healthy milage for a bike. Suspect it's had a new engine at some point.

When you say it runs like a sowing machine, do you mean a huge piece of agricultural machinery, or did you mean a sewing machine? (checks own post carefully for spelling mistakes Smile)

finpos.

My old VT500 had done over 56k miles when it got stolen. It ran perfectly apart from starting being a bit of a pain in the arse. It was the chassis and suspension which let it down as they were atrocious.

I believe it is more or less the parent of the NTV too . Honda middleweight V-Twins are notoriously reliable, see the CX500 too.

I'd doubt that that NTV has had a new engine myself. Sickpup is the man to talk to about that sort of machinery.

NTV's are classic couriers bikes cos they can rack up huuuge mileages.

Mate's dads Pan Euro is on over 100K, but that's what they are designed for.

i did mean sewing machine. it has got full service history. it was originally used by a courier who used it to ride from sittingbourne in kent to london everyday. he used to change the oil once a month every month he owned it up untill 2003. i have nearly evry recipte ever. i came with loads of paper work. nothing in there saying the engine had ever been changed. all the numbers are spot on. cheers. jamie

Mine's a 97 Thundercat and has 43k on it. I figure I'll run it into the ground or break it when I want rid of it, with that sort of mileage it's going to scare everyone off.

My Bros 400 has 74,000 on the clock but the clock has not worked
for at least 2 years and has been a courier bike for at least 3 years.
So its well over 100.000 on it.It burns some oil but there is no smoke
or anything like that. Thumbs Up

I've heard of some crazy milages before, Like Pans with 250,000+miles, Fireblades going way over 200,000 too even bikes like a CBR250 (which revs to like 22k rpm) doing 75,000miles.

Look after them and they'll be fine, assuming you dont get unlucky e.g. blocked oil way etc

Im ashamed to say it, but my 2001 ZX6R has only done 8000m, since feb 2001 when i got it. Thats not even an average of 1500m per year, such a waste of a brilliant bike!

My 88 KMX200 has got 18900m on the clock, and i only did 300m of that. It blew up in May 2004, and i was supposed to have started a restoration during that winter. Ive now stripped most of the bike, and removed and stored alot of parts, but thats about as far as ive got, which again is shameful really!

Iv'e given up trying to set any targets now, as i know better! But id like to think my ZX6R will be running and i'll be riding it again by september, and that my KMX will be done before the end of the year!
