Hi all. I am thinking of buying an Aprilia RS125 as my first bike. I have noticed one not too far away from me. The problem is it needs a new clutch cable. Does anyone know how much it would be for one of these? It also needs an MOT, so would the clutch cable taken care of in the MOT?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Cable is not much but on the RS they are a bit of a pain to fit. Probably about half an hours work to fit (but depends on luck, the can take ages).

Sure the MOT station could fit the cable but they would charge you for it.

All the best

Keith

Wemoto.com sell them for £23.50 for the 99-01 model. Don't know what the year of the one you're looking at is, they do the other years too.

Thanks for that guys, great help. The dizzy sod hasn't listed what year the bike is, but I'm guessing 2000- 2001-ish.

Hope your going to haggle for the price to be dropped due to the cable being buggered! Wink

Unfortunatly doesn't really help. Problem is hooking the end of the cable onto the clutch actuating arm. On the RS the clutch actuating arm is inside the clutch casing.

All the best

I'm pretty sure it's a 2001 model. It has done 8,000 miles. Slight scuffs here and there. Needs new clutch cable, needs MOT and taxing. What sort of price should I be looking at do you think?

Yep, its very fiddley, You have to just be patient, but it can be done ( well duuh ) .

I used a screw driver and moved the clutch arm forward, and used another screw driver to push the cable to the right side of the engine ( furthest side away from the espection hole )

It is a basturd.
