As l,ve finished my apprenticeship l,m looking for a new job due to my current employer not increasing my pay from piss poor apprentice rate (would be happy with 15k per year)

So do any of you lot know were to look for jobs (in the surrey/south london area) and whats the best way to go about it? because the first engineering company l worked for l got the job through my dad after leaving school and the current one was because they took on a load of employees from the first company after it went bust so l,ve got no experance with job searching.

Bah I'm a double grad with full ACCA certificaton( but lacking experience) , come 18 more months and when they do a pay review which isn't so much a pay review as you will get a 2% rise , no discussion I'll tell them to get lost. (£14.5K now)

NOOOO

job centre plus is where all the dregs of jobs go , all the £5.05

or exceeds NMW jobs go (ie by 1-5p exceeds) , and it possibly the worst place for jobs , just use Yell.co.uk find all the engineering companies and cold call in person , they can't avoid you that way.

Get a magazine/publication of your work area, find a company you'd like to work for, do some good research on them. Then send your CV and covering letter saying you would really like to work for them because....to the head man (that'll impress them)

Then 3 days later give them a call, ask to speak to head man, ask if he got your cv, this will impress them too (the fact you followed up your letter and cv, shows you are keen).

If you do get an interview, wait a week, then send them a thank you letter.

Do this with a handful of companies and you are likely to get yourself a position. There are so many people out there looking for similar jobs you need to make a good lasting impression.

Also go onto Google and type in xxx jobs/careers, and sooo many sites will pop up, some right in your area - like www.totaljobs.com
