This probably isn't much use to you location wise, but try:
www.ne-worcs.ac.uk.
This is the link to New College, based in Bromsgrove. They offer a 30wk, part-time IMI Level 2 motorcycle service/repair course. It's run 2 nights a week, and you do learn quite a bit about motorcycle systems, and also there's alot of practical work, with the option of taking your own bike in to do work on at times. You will be doing things like brake and suspension overhaul, transmission and engine overhaul etc. It's not however a complete beginners course for those who have no mechanical ability.
I did a previous version of this course 2 years ago, and found it was overall, fun, and interesting, but also quite theory based which is what i struggle with generally.
They have last year been appointed as the U.K's national Harley Davidson technical training academy facility, and it was in my local paper last week, that 5 course graduates have now been offered technician's jobs at HD dealerships based in the south. |

Good luck. I quite fancied doing an evening class in mechanics (bike or car) but there was nothing local other than a Basic Motor Vehicle course (which sounded like how to check your oil level, etc.).
Everything else was day release. I don't think my employer will give me a day a week off to get an NVQ in Motor Vehicle Technology. ____________________ Current bike: Kawasaki Z750S |
