£9000 for an angiogram, dude you've been robbed
It costs £1500 for the angiogram and maybe £3-500 per stent used depending on the type I'm suprised that he was able to pay just nine grand for the angio as the doctor may have wanted proof that he could pay for emergency treatment such as a bypass (costing £25,000) at very short notice.
Surgeons and doctors break down their workload into time slots, this is how they can determine how many and type of operation or procedure they can do. In this calculation, they have private spaces for the likes of those twats with Bupa and HSA cover.
You dont get any different treatment, most of the time private work is carried out in an NHS hospital and with NHS staff. Apparently, if you are an HNS nurse and are doing a private patient, then you are payed 'private fees' for the time that you are nursing them during that procedure / operation, up to £50 per hour . ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

I think that's proof that one of the reasons the NHS struggles to treat patients within the national targets is because surgeons and consultants spend a large proportion of their time working privately.
The NHS can't afford to pay them the rate they charge privately, so have less 'bed time' available.
This isn't the fault of the NHS as an organisation, it is the fault of private health companies - like BUPA paying surgeons over the odds for their work.
Imagine you're a consultant, the NHS pays you in the region of £40 per hour, BUPA pays you £80 an hour, which are you going to work for? ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

The cheeky bastard!
Good work.
I can't believe the NHS would fuck up and not even wait for the money to clear. It's is fair enough witht he thousands we pay in tax every year and when it comes to life or death we're left to wait until hopefully for them we die.
I'm going to book myself in for a new set of kidneys and a heart in a few years. ____________________ GSXR600 |
