I have a 1998(I think...R Reg) Aprilia RS125, and I'm trying to work out resale for it.

Its having its rings done now so the engine will be performing as new, it's got 18k km on it and I'm not planning on thrashing it that much.

I'll be getting my test within the next 2 months.

Currently its got some pretty hefty scratches down each side (not my fault!) fairing, and it's in grey so pretty hard to get any sort of replacement off ebay, and stock ones are £130 each!

What does a respray cost and can they match colours? Would this be worth it for resale?

Also where/how much are those weird grippy things that go between your legs?

Is there any sort of touching up I can do?

What sort of resale would I be looking at and is it ever worth buying from dealers? (local dealer has some sort of deal going on with suzuki)

Resprays always lower resale, even if they're beautiful.

I'd rather an honest bike, with a few scrapes, than a pristine Rossi rep or some other shite hiding major crash damage.

18k is a fair amount on a 125. And just rings won't have your engine in pristine condition. Although will help.

Just have a look on eBay and bike trader, see what similar stuff is going for. People expect a few knocks on a 125. The next owner will just do the same.

at a very rough guess i would say £1000, but someone will be along in a bit to correct me

as you can see from my avatar i have the same model bike i think

side fairings do pop up on ebay from time to time. the last pair i got were about £60 i think

but not much help if you want to sell it now

I don't want to sell it now...

its cost me so far...

£500 to get it through the MOT
£240 for the engine rebuild (this includes clutch cable and all official aprilia parts)

£40 for a van pickup twice

and £70 to actually buy it

so I've spent roughly £850 on the bike to get it to a decent running order.

Feeling like I've maybe spent a little too much.

might be worth hanging onto it for a bit as if you sell it for less than you paid for it having spent all that money, its like paying to fix up someone elses bike

I think rs125's are great little bikes for fun on country roads, just dont have the oomph for overtaking.

but if you ride when its quiet or on quiet roads, they are fine.
