Right here is my predicament - I am 16 and have a part time job am starting college in Spetember. At the moment I have a chinese 50cc moped which is nice for the moment but I want to move to bigger things.

I want to get an A2 license when I am 17 in october but I have only ever ridden geared bikes a few times and am wondering wheather I should get myself a trusty cg 125 for a few months to get some practise or do the A2 license as soon as I can and get on too something that I might kill myself on. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance
Tom

i've just startd riding geared bikes.

i would suggest getting more practice on a geared bike, as it would only leave you disappointed if you didn't and failed the A2

Cheers mate but I cant wait to get on a big bike. I was hoping of doing my a2 then hopping on to a Honda cb500 as they are pretty cheap but I don't know if they are under 33bhp or if there not if they can be restricted.

if you have not had much experience, you can do a 3-4 day course with bike companys like 1st castle etc, which starts on day 1 with basic gear changes, with the next 2 days practising riding round. you will probably grasp it easily, and the 2days should be enough experience to pass on the 4th day.
depends how easy you get it. costs around £250-£350 i think. just an idea anyway.
if not a cg125 might be next possibilty, but that is the bike you do your training on and is easy to learn, so maybe training course?!
saves you having to pay for bike for few months to learn on, and then get insured, then pay for test, then sell bike, then get new bike, then insure again lol
any help?
i passed A2 and have restricted 600cc. runs ok, but you can buy bikes already restricted to 33bhp

or just buy a bike like an aprilia rs125, keep it 14.6 bhp.. ride around for few months.. get pratise.. then go do test, once you passed de-restrict to 33 bhp..

this way you dont have to buy 2 bikes, 2 sets of insurance

etc
