Ordering a New Helmet: Payment Query

Hi all. I am going to order my first helmet from Race Visors. It's only a cheap one for now (£75, AGV) as I don't really want one of the top make ones until I'm 21. I have something like £80 in my account at the moment with an available balance of £50. My wage will be going in to my account tomorrow which will more than cover the cost of the helmet, but what happens if I ordered it now? Can't wait until tomorrow because A) I'm impatient and b) I'm working and I want to get it ordered before the weekend. Would they not start to process it until tomorrow anyway if I ordered it late on tonight? Also, would they take payment immediately?

Any help will be appreciated.

I would wait, to be on the safe side.

Some do seem to go out immediately.

Oh and I hope you've tried this model on.
If you haven't, you could find an ill fitting helmet actually damages your head when you crash.
(From personal experience, bad head aches for a year after any time you do exercise isn't fun!)

Really don't want too have to wait but looks as though I'm going to have to. And I'm a size small which is alright. I really thought I'd be a medium. And if it doesn't fit, I can return it and get a bigger one if needed. When did you have your crash?

All helmets have have different shapes, as well as the sizes.

The helmet I got the bad concusion and headaches from was the right size for me, but the wrong 'fit'.

My crash was a few years ago. Was the best helmet I could afford at the time, but not quite as good a fit as some of the more expensive ones.
As I said, headaches lasted for about a year, slowly dieing out through that time; whenever I did any semi-serious exercise.
Had a really bad headache all the time for about two weeks after it.

That's pretty bad, and wouldn't like it to happen to anyone. However, I can only afford what I can afford. I would love to get an Arai RX-7 Corsair but I just can't afford that yet. They have slight changes in the helmet so it fits better for different zones I believe too. I suppose I'll just have to wait and order it some other time.

I would get your self to a bike shop with a decent range of helmets.

Try on everyone you can. Different helmets from the same company are often different - for instance the Shoei Raid fits me better than the Shoei Raid II.

My last helmets I've bought on ebay. Got Shoei Raid helmets with a RRP of over £150 for under £50.
Providing it's good outside condition it's very unlikely to be damaged (ie helmets get scuffed when they get kicked over on the ground, so if if it's had a blow good enough to damage the inner foam, you /are/ going to be able to see it on the outside I would have thought.)

i agree with G

i know a lot of people are against second hand helmets but if its been dropped it will usually have a mark on it, so if its unmarked its probably ok

this way you can get a better helmet for your budget off ebay, as long as you try on the equivalent in a shop first

i got an arai astro R for £150 when they are normally £220

so you could get a £150 helmet for about £100 i reckon

though passing a WH smith walking in the front cover of MCN said
"motorcycle helmets flaws" , not that I read MCN it was just next to the UBG which I went in to look at the review for a GPX600 , which since its changed format didn;t have it in.
