Hi

Just so you know how your opinion is manipulated:-

https://www.ippr.org.uk/ecomm/files/warm_words.pdf

A document from a think tank talking about how best to talk up "global warming".

For example on page 25:-

Quote:

Treating climate change as beyond argument

Much of the noise in the climate change discourse comes from argument and counter-argument, and it is our recommendation that, at least for popular communications, interested agencies now need to treat the argument as having been won. This means simply behaving as if climate change exists and is real, and that individual actions are effective. This must be done by stepping away from the 'advocates debate' described earlier, rather than by stating and re-stating these things as fact.

The 'facts' need to be treated as being so taken-for-granted that they need not be spoken. The certainty of the Government's new climate-change slogan - 'Together this generation will tackle climate change' (Defra 2006) - gives an example of this approach. It constructs, rather than claims, its own factuality.

In other words, whatever the facts pretend that global warming is beyond doubt.

All the best

Keith

Hi

You miss the point of the link. It is a UK think tank document of ways to convince people that global warming is real, whatever the evidence is.

All the best

Keith

Yep, so scare there with imaginary bogey men and you can control them.

We have had god, facism, communism and now global warming and terrorism. All with some small grain of truth.

All the best

Keith

Pirates and global warming
Quote:
According to the Pastafarian belief system, pirates are "absolute divine beings" and the original Pastafarians. Their image as "thieves and outcasts" is all misinformation spread by Christian theologians of the Middle Ages. In reality, Pastafarianism says that they were "peace-loving explorers and spreaders of good will" who would distribute candy to children.

The inclusion of pirates into Flying Spaghetti Monsterism was part of Henderson's original letter to the Kansas School Board, as a way of illustrating that correlation does not equal causation. In it, Henderson puts forth the argument that "global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct effect of the shrinking numbers of pirates since the 1800s."[3] A chart accompanying the letter shows that as the number of pirates decreased, global temperatures increased, bringing attention to the fact that things with statistically significant correlations are nevertheless not necessarily related.

Henderson has stated that all proceeds from The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster sales will go towards the purchase of a pirate ship [1]. "The plan, for some time now, has been to form a non-profit organization, and then purchase a pirate ship, for missionary work - tax free." [2]. Claimed as a task given to him directly by the FSM [3], Henderson contends that such a ship would help spread Pastafarianism to those without Internet access, as well as contributing to a decrease of global warming.
