it depends on your plans for the bike.

are you gonna keep it or sell it?
obviously you dont want to spend lots of money that you wont get back when you sell.

f your gonna keep it and you just want to make it your own and a little unique then only you can decide whats a waste of money and whats not Thumbs Up

To be honest. Unless you're prepared to spend large sums of money, it'll end up looking like every other 'streetfightered' Bandit on eBay.

I thought about it when I had mine, but realised fitting twin lights, a noisy can and renthal bars doesn't change it much.

You pay the price for top notch looks and wont get much of a return on it as it's a niche market.

I left mine standard and had no porblems selling it.

id say first take loads of bits off, clean stuff up and make it look a very tidy normal bandit, then start improving it, some nice stainless fastners on some parts, no dolly mixture stuff but plain stainless is nice, then a nice set of renthrals and twin lights. i rekon doing this kinda thing will make it look so much nicer than just sticking the normal streetfighter bits. so much you could do to make it look tidy without the overkill and massive overload of shine or anodized bits so many streetfighters get

Go for a full fairing - that was my plan when bike hunting for a 1200 SK1 but I couldn't find a bike to fit my price range so ended up with a Thunderace instead.

According to MCN Suzuki might make a Touring version with full fairing and panniers, and it looked ok in the pictures - I'd have one.

I have a bandit and I decided to do small subtle things to it.
Firtsly I gave it a really good clean and polish
I fitted a tinted black screen
I retrimmed the seat
I fitted small tear drop mirrors as I didn't like the be chrome things.
I also have some straight handlebars.

Here are a few pics:

https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y83/mark_petty/Suzuki/SUNP0112.jpg

Ignore the date on the camara Laughing

Its still pretty standard but decided i'm not spending anymore on it as I don't want to have problems trying to sell it.

Braided hoses are a good idea, decent brake pads, and twin headlights (the light that powers out of them is wicked). And then if like me you plan to keep your bike for years, then have a browse through some paintschemes and see which you like the best... find someone with photoshop and ask them to show different schemes on your bike til you find one you like...then go in search of your sprayer. A naked spray will cost around £500-800 and a faired bike - a helluva lot more.

I agree re: braided hoses. Bandit brakes are pretty pap as standard. A set of hoses will set you back about £40. Then budget in for some HH pads.

Renthals quite drastically alter the seating position and make it feel more agressive, I like it personally.

Don't bother with all the eBay undertrays etc. Maybe a subtle hugger to protect the shock etc.

If you're feeling really adventurous bust the frame out and powder coat it.

twin headlights are so common as to be chavvy now.

Bandit 1200 or GSXR1100 engine would look nice in there....

I prefer the look of the round light on the naked bikes, a kind of 'cafe race' style cool.

Not a fan of the twin lights myself in fact when I was looking for mine I ruled out those with twin headlights, just my opinion of course and it is all down to personal taste. If selling leave as stock as you probably wont make your money back.

I tend to see (and apologies to the Bandit 600 owners) the bike as the nova/corsa of the bike world. There are loads out there with "plastic this, undertray that, twin lights the other..." etc. and the bike ends up as the chav/boy racer equivalent of the motorbike world.

Mind you, my Divvy has had a rack, rear hugger and motad exhaust fitted to it and the only silly things have been a row of stick-on oval reflectors across the bottom of my plate as I took the rear mudguard off. (was described as "Chavvy" by a Bandit owning mate of mine.. Smile The rack was a necessity, the old exhaust had fallen off and the hugger protects the rear shock...

I like those pics. Subtlety is key. Smile

And a '98 R1 has to die to donate its tail unit to an 80bhp bandit.
