Sold my Deauville (really sad to see it go - what's wrong with me!) and picked the below up, for what I think was a pretty good price. 2002, 14k miles, tasteful mods. Really chuffed with it, although I'm not intending on insuring it until spring.

How old are you? Is insurance that bad? I'd insure it in case of thieving little scrotes... Once you get to your late 20's and beyond, insurance is so minimal on bikes it's silly not to. I'm assuming a relatively safe post code and a garage/shed to whack it in though.

24, so yeah it's not cheap. I've had bikes stolen in the past, but it's parked up in my parents barn in the countryside so should be OK.

2010 Triumph Street Triple R:

https://s29.postimg.org/6zr8neraf/IMG_0105.jpg

I've been dismissive about these before (underpowered, too small etc.). But I was wrong. I apologise. I take it back. It's an absolutely cracking bike. It's well built and looks good. The engine is supremely exploitable, is as powerful as it needs to be, and offers an addictive sound. It's very light and rides like a proper sportsbike. It's all-day comfortable, and even at near-freezing temperatures on damp roads, it gives you the confidence to really take the p*ss. Very much fun.

I bought this one because it's an absolute minter (5k miles, one owner, immaculate, new tyres) and was available locally at the sort of money you'd expect to pay for a high mileage example. It was meant to be a Winter bargain to try out and sell in Spring, but I might just have to keep it.

Here's me and my faithful Aprilia RSV kicking about on the TT course. I lived there for a couple of years and made it my business to learn the course and the mountain section in particular very well. Bloody good fun. But went through 3 rear tyres and 2 fronts one summer... and a set of brake discs too... and f**k knows how much fuel...
Good times tho. Very Happy

Here's my 98 plate VTR Firestorm after a blat last week.

https://i63.tinypic.com/2j3p1cw.jpg

She a cracking bike for born agains like me. Loads of grunt and very forgiving.

Got into the habit of washing her down after a ride on the salt covered roads, unfortunately I've had my first casualty. Thumbs Down

https://i64.tinypic.com/59vwuv.jpg

Noticed the crack today when washing her down after this afternoons ride. Must have happened when a panel blew over and landed against my bike during the week. Sad

Suitably impressed.

Loads of power. It's better than me. 500 miles on the clock now so time for a valve check.

It's on par or slightly quicker than my mates 250exc, but about 20kgs heavier, which isn't such a good thing on the really technical bits. But hey, it is a 4 stroke after all. For green lane use and the price i paid, I'm happy.
