Can legal tints be used during the day and night without any hassle from police?

Any legal visor must pass 50% of ambient light. Which sounds a fair bit, but in reality it's not.

If your thinking of buying a new one then legal visors are available from any good bike shop.

https://www.racevisors.co.uk/ are pretty good too, sell visors from light tints to full black ones.

I'm pretty sure it's 50% aswell

I already ahve full tint and mirror visor Smile

Was just wondering to putting some tinting film on my standerd visor so its not as dark which would be a bit safer to use during winter?

Cos i dont want clear visor all the time and CBA to carry legal one with me. Anyone think its a good idea? Embarassed

Chances are the police will not bother you with a tinted visor unless they are involved in a purge on them.

Used to be if you had a clear in a pouch with you that you could change at dark then that was ok.

Not now.

If you do get pulled and you have a tinted visor you will get a ticket.

Not always worth it.

I've worn an Rainbow Iridium visor for 4 years.
I've never had a problem. Even stood speaking to plod the other day with helmet in hand, he didn't even mention it.

They have other things to worry about other than petty things like that, would really need to be a jobs worth.

Exactly.

This is true of general day to day riding also.

I think you'd really have to be unlucky to get pulled for a tinted visor.
But I suposse it could be one more thing they'd nick you for, if you were stopped in connection with another traffic offence.

How does the film fix to the visor, any solvent might damage it so be carefull and no it's not advisable to use it at night as you are more likely to get a tug from the law.

I do ride like a bit of a loon, been pulled many times with my pure tinted visor and ive only had 1 verbal warning for it. but sumtimes they just dont feel right having it in dark rainy nights.

They should make those tints they have on some glasses where they are clear in dark & tint at night.

You could get inserts that did that, they were crap. I havn't seen them for ages though.
