Like you're in a room full of people who would describe themselves as your friends, but you feel alone all the same?

My friends all go to a place called the Litten Tree, and i used to love this place, but in the past year it doesn't fit me anymore, or maybe i dont fit "it" anymore, so i went in search of somewhere that would play Foo Fighters, and well, the only place that would play it was the Grapes but i had to sing karaoke, so DOA it was Wink

So you've never felt completely alone even when you're sitting with a group of people (people who you are friends with)? It doesn't happen all the time with me, but I do get these weird moments, like I'm watching everythng happen from the outside.

will only thing i can think of,is if you've got stuff on your mind, etc & you kinda "involved" with them but you still not 100% but thats when somethings bothering me but alot of the time if/when i go out im good @ putting things aside & not letting it get me down or thinking about it & if its so bad that i keep thinking about it then i wont go out in 1st place

does that make sense yea?

Glad i'm not the only one...

They are my friends, one of them i live with and has been my friend since we were 11! And sometimes we do have a laugh. But sometimes i feel a million miles away from them like when they talk away about their "issues" which, honestly, arent problems at all.

And now my poorly head hurts Sad

Yeah, I can identify with that.

Do you think maybe you're just starting to grow apart from them? It happens, it's natural as people grow up and evolve/change. Question

Yeah. I've got friends I still keep in contat with that I grew up with. Sometimes i just find it so hard to relate. I mean, they're bsically still dicking around like we did in school, while I'm doing the single mom thing. When they complain about how they dont' have any money left after paying bills for going out drinking more than once a month, I'm left thinking "Ok so after I'm done paying my bills, I'm having trouble scraping together enough to just feed my kids.... it's incredibly rare that I'll go out drinking."

But at the same time, I can't sit and talk to soccer moms. Yeah I can make conversation about potty training and what Jr is learning in school, but it bores the snot out of me.

I don't really fit in either world.

aye i'm the same, not the more chatty person in the world (understatement) but i hardly hang around with my mates as all they want to do is go get rat-arsed and i don't.. i'd rather do something constructive.

anyway..

Blimey, you really are in Stafford!

Sounds like you need to move on to me (not the Stafford thing, the pubs thing) I have discovered as i got older that me tastes have changed and people how i used to get on with really well, are just not as important as they were about 10 years ago.

Try a change of scene, you never know Karma

I feel exactly the same mary jane, i'm not really meant in either world.

And realninja, I have started going into different places with a different group of friends from my bike school. Going to see an iron maiden tribute tomorrow, and we sometimes go to the trough (rising sun) in walsall. But to be honest i'd rather be out on the bike.

I think i just wish that i felt differently and had a better time when i'm with the people ive been friends with for years, but i guess it happens to everyone when they grow up and grow apart.

Cheers for replies everyone Smile

i have wat people would describe as "friends". however, i quite often feel very alone. i know that 1 or 2 of them would have my back if i was in trouble (money, somewhere to stay, etc...) but i still feel very different from the majority of my friends.

i never kept in touch with any school friends really - after 3 years out of education i still speak to 2 of them. not too often either. I have always relied on my social group anyway as i went to school miles from where i live. But...

ive got to the age now where people have got married, gone to uni, and a huge amount has changed. sadly the changes havent been the type that has made me feel more welcome. it doesnt help that i am very different to a lot of the group. i like different music, ride a bike, have a different lifestyle. i was also brought up from a poor home (similar to yours mary jane - on a side note, no matter how hard it is, love your kid. even if they cant have x,y, or z. they will appreciate you when they are older, and what you did for them) where getting fed was hard work. most of my mates keep claiming poverty because they just spent their money on some armani or refuse to cut back on there luxuries like chocolate, their one a day yakults and other stupid things! so i am very different to them. i have felt bitterly lonely at times, despite having some true friends. i just get on with it....i think i need a girl or summit! Rolling Eyes Laughing

one thing to point out is a very true proverb i was taught once:

"Aquaintences are many but friends are few."
why on earth did i just poor out my heart to an internet forum!?
