Mounting FAT32 Disk in LInux

I was wondering if anyone on here could help. I recently got rid of my nice and simple mac and moved over to a ubuntu linux setup. So far everything has been going well. I've just got one problem.

When i connect my fat 32 backup drive (it's internal), it doesn't mount.
I believe the name of the device is /dev/hdc so i should be able to run sudo mount /mount point /dev/hdc ???

If anyone on here knows what i'm doing wrong please help. Very Happy

mount -t vfat /mountpoint /dev/hdc

or similar i think, it's a while since I've done anything with linux.

NIce one, the thing is the fat32 disk isn't showing up in fstab so mount /dev/hdc isn't working.

in Unbuntu there is a mounting program i think.
Have a look through the system menu.

Cant remember off the top of my head and my laptop is at home.

Tried that but it wont mount the volume.

Try fdisk /dev/hdc to make sure the drive exists there.

i think linux has to be redhat 9 or above to be able to mount Fat32, unsure

/dev/hdc is my cd-rom drive on my ubuntu box.

But a quick check of fstab would confirm if it's there or not.
If it's not in fstab you'll just need a longer mount command and some more information about the drive.

You could just bang in a knoppix disc that will read fat32 from the off, copy the data onto an ext formated drive then format the fat32 drive ext, or does it need to stay fat32?
