I know theres a few pretty good photographers on here. Laughing

Going to be looking for a new camera soon (well new to me)

Budget will be £2-300, nearer 200 would be nice but I want a decent large bodied camera not a compact 8 zillion pixels ebay special that takes worse pics than my phone. Wink

I'm assuming a Canon or a Nikon but can I get a good one new or used within my budget or am I asking too much?

Depends what you want it for really.

Take a serious look at the Minolta Z serious. They're low on your budget, but they're seriously good cameras. I have one, Bendy has one, G has one. They'e about £120 on eBay.

All the settings are fully customisable, fairly low resolution, 3.2mPixel rings a bell, the Z2 is 4mpixel, but only has 8x optical zoom compared to the z1's 10x.

And it's bloody good at taking pictures...

I kept an eye out for cheap ones and got mine for about £60, though I'm not 100% sure on the image quality - must borrow Bendys or yours sometime to compare with the same settings.

For £300 I would be tempted to look at the cheap end of older digital SLRs.
Stretch a little further and you could get a new 300D from Hong Kong along with a second hand lens or two on ebay.
