Is it just me or is there a large increase in the amount of Polish people around these days? I've worked around them for over a year now but i hear about htem and see them more and more, are they taking over? Shocked

personally i think they're cool, the ones i've met are funny, cool, nice, and pretty! so Thumbs Up Mr. Green

Any reason why there's a large increase?

just a random thought! Confused

lol, just yesterday when I was working, an old school friend of mine said to me 'are you going town after work, there's loads of Polish girls down there'. I also work with a Polish girl who'll be leaving sometime soon. She'd get it. Oh, and, there is a factory a few miles away from me, and what the normal thing to do is, when you're 16/17, is, you get a job there from September to December for the Christmas rush, and last Christmas, hardly anyone applied so they had to get a Polish agency to send over loads of Polish people for the rush. Thing is, they just forgot to go back. I don't mind. They are just people at the end of the day, just from a different place. Can be difficult speaking to them at first, my Polish is as bad their English, but, I haven't met any bad ones yet.

All of the 'old school' Poles I know are top people to a man.

All of the 'current' batch of recent additions to this country seem to think that they are owed a living.

Perhaps thats a little to much of a generalisation! Smile

Seems that theres a bit of a Pole problem in NI. Polish coming in taking houses and jobs, giving nothing to the community except rudeness.

i can back that up, there are nothing left on the job front and the houing benefit has nothing left for their own. I am not racist but there are so many of them over here. They are buringthem out in Belfast though, Confused

Employers give them jobs and pay them on the cheap, they get something stupid like £20 a day and landlords charge them extortionate rent to make money.

I know of someone who rents out a flat in a rough housing estate. 14 polish are living in it, all doing shifts so they're always coming in and out straight to bed or work. He's charging them £500 a week. Laughing

the reason they are starting to come over, is that poland is now in the EU so its easy fot them to legally get jobs here and the pay is better than in poland

Ain't just poles but theres all sorts running around now!

Most of them well 99% of them work for agencys though the job situation is not to hot over here unless you like working for mcdonalds or kentucky (they i'll admit do employ them fulltime/partime)

My own firm over half our staff is agency and others firms i know like hg wilsons employ a lot of agency/temp workers as well, a lot of firms can't afford or be bothered taking on fulltime workers to just pay them off in 6 months time.

I wouldn't mind if they all contributed to making things better in one way or another but some are thick as shit (pardon my french) and simply should not be here, we've enough retards in this country to sort out first.

not quite the rules have changed , stay away for 6 or more months EVEN if you pay UK taxes and you are not allowed to use the NHS (you have to pay for it) until you have stayed here for at least a year.

Many many ex pats who vanish off to spain come back and realise this to their dismay , to expats and UK workers who work oseas who pay UK taxes due to the tax rules its HIGHLY unfair.

Felt a bit sorry fo him, but i said i couldn't let him because i've had three bikes stolen and wouldn't be able to see whats going on down there. Rolling Eyes

There are lots and lots of them doing shite jobs like bog cleaning and whatnot. I find it a bit like the situation in the united states with mexican folk taking up all the menial tasks nobody wants to do, but causing a problem for the taxpayer Mad

On the news the other day there was a story of a small town with a population of 5,000 in 2003, yet today there are only 2,000 inhabitants. Poland is going downhill due to the amount of workers upping sticks and moving to Britain, so there is a real employment problem in Poland now.

Cheap Labour.
We will complain about how our beloved United Kingdom has been taken over by 'them' in forty years.
Just as our Septic cousins are about the way Mexicans etc. are 'taking over' and 'White' America is becoming the minority.

If we do not want to do the jobs that immigrants will gratefully do then pay the price we must.

Self inflicted alienation in our own country.

Empty your own bin, get your own meal or drive your own bus or train if you want to keep Britain British.

But we'd all rather someone else does all that.....

AND THE NUMBER 1 THOUGHT FOR 2006:

We know exactly where any untaxed car is located among the millions of cars in Britain. But we haven't got a clue as to where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located. Maybe we should put the DVLA in charge of immigration.

interesting Thinking Laughing

Interesting theory but imo its rubbish everyday i see our people doing the so called menial tasks like bin men, road sweepers, cleaners, just what are these jobs that people do not want to do because i guarantee that we already have people doing it.

(okay i'll admit nobody wants to work for mcdonalds/burger king or kentucky but thats what students are for!)

Great. So we import a load more unskilled workers to carry out poorly paid jobs and thus never build up savings for retirement. Who is going to pay for their pensions? I guess that would be the poor old British middle class then?

Foreign workers are not a solution for anything, unless you count unscruplous companies being able to pay cack rates to up profits.

The Government swore blind that hardly any workers from the newly-joined East. Euro. EU members would come over here. Since then, over 20 times their estimate have done so - on top of all the illegal immigration over the last decade or so.

Our country is screwed.

If you chat to them, most are very well skilled in their own countries, its just without the use of English they can only score the shitty jobs like Butlins toilet cleaners!

If people object to other Europeans coming into the UK, how do you think the French and Spanish have been feeling with all the British going out there to live, buying up the cheap land and housing...? (for years and years and years and years)

The Australians hate it when the British go over there to work and live too... but considering most of them have British blood running through their veins at some point in their geneaolgy, its hardly surprising they portray similar *keep out foreigner* attitudes!
