Which route do you think is best?:

Keeping the NTV650 as a hack and getting an NC35 (oh yes saw a lovely one yesterday), using the NTV650 as a commuting hack, and the NC35 as a weekend toy.

Buying the NC35 selling the NTV650 and using the NC35 everywhere (considerng i do 250 miles a week). (currently have back problem).

Forget all these old bikes and buy this fantastic 2003 Hornet I've seen, with 2K on the clocks. And get rid of the NTV and stop dreaming about that NC35.

any suggestions?

Thanks

With a hornet, you'd be filling up about 3 times a week. Confused Fun bikes but for long commutes, they suck.

Go for the first option, even if it is a rusty old overpriced 400 that you want. Wink

Which bike would you rather have the Hornet or the NC35 ?

Personally if I commuted every day I'd rather have an older bike for that and a nice one for the weekend.

Multiple bikes 'for the win' as they say Smile.

Though I'd go for a NC30, not as overpriced and prettier Wink.

A mates recently bought Hornet will do 88 miles from full to reserve. Shocked

First option sounds the best to me.

Spread the mileage over two bikes, obvioulsy the most will be on the NTV though, but your toy will last longer then.

If you bin either of the two bikes at least you'll have something to ride whilst you repair or replace it Wink

That's bollox (I dont mean what your saying), I thought Hornet's were designed as a sort of commuter style bike? At least that's what they look like to me, my little ZXR can do 140 before reserve if I'm fairly easy on her, but that's still with some throttle abuse.

Confused

I'm afraid that may well be true Reflex, Hornets do have a reputation for not having a good tank range, i knew someone that would average around 100 miles to a tank and that was taking it fairly easy.

88 miles seems a little low, but could be achieved if you really thrashed it i suppose Confused

You'd think so wouldn't you. 78 miles was my lowest tank range (before flicking to reserve - I utterly hammered it everywhere on that tank) and average was usually 95-98 miles. Got 120 through very gentle riding and bp optimax though.

Ride it gently and you can get over 180 miles to reserve. I got 182.6 miles to reserve on a 99' sv650 using 5k as a red line.

Keep the NTV and use the RVF as a weekend toy. In fact, I'm thinking of doing a very similar thing, albeit with an NC30...
