hi all
at the pretty age of 29 i have decided that its about time i got back on a bike. (of the motor variety)

From the age of 8 when my dad brought me my first bike i rode till i was 16. then just when i was about to get my licence, i ran out of money and disappeared of to university.

Now i have decided to trade down to a smaller car for the times i need to carry stuff round and take the plunge and get a bike.

I have been looking around at a few places to take my tests and will most likely do a 5 day course to get it out the way ASAP.

However does any one have any hints on a good company to use.
After i have got that out the way i will have to start looking for a ride Wink

Cheers
Aaron

most companies are locally based.. i don't think three are any large national training schools like BSM, for bikes..

What area are you in, and maybe then some of the local members can recommend you somewhere.

Alternatively, one of my sites can list some of the training schools in your area based on your postcode.

pass your test and then try out lots of different bike to see what you like

you can just buy based on what other people say about a bike or how it looks, but its how you feel when riding it that matters.

Normally when doing DAS companies use a GS500, ER5 style bikes. If you feel these are "too small" go down a bike showroom and sit on some and see how you feel.

Actually as for what bike to buy i really have no idea at the moment!

Trouble is when i did ride bikes they were all scramblers and of road stuff!! And i have really looked at bikes for years now. Having to do a bit of reading to catch up on the technology. (i mean electric starters ??? what was wrong with a god old kick start Wink Very Happy )

So i think i will do what has been suggested before. buy a relatively cheep second hand bike that I'm comfortable going back and forward to work on. and spend the end of this year and the early part of next year looking around for the perfect bike.
