Well, thats the CBT out of the way (theory last week)....so now on to the DAS!

Went throught the CBT fairly easily today..the instructor took me (according to him) to nearly test standard. He recomends 3 hours further training and has advised booking the test on Monday for sometime in September.

I really enjoyed being back on two wheels (even if it was only a GS500!), but also have remembered how vunerable you are on a bike......some tosser jay-walked straight at me in town...I was coming up to some traffic lights (lights on green) he stepped off the pevement looked straight at me and almost ran straight at me. At least I know that I can do an emergancy stop! (must admit that I did fell like twatting him

The DAS is a superb course, so much more thrilling and entertaining than that of lessons in a car.

Thanks guys. i agree about the DAS course...I enjoyed every minute of it on Saturday.

I have booked another 3 hours training on the 500, but at the moment i feel fairly confident. I need to work on my slow speed control (I keep letting the revs drop instead of feathering the clutch and balancing it against the back brake) to improve on the U-Turn piece. Emergency stops are fine (in the dry at least). I also need to correct my road position...I seem to favour right of centre when on the road. Oh and i also need to learn to cancel the damn indicator!

I think that I just need some more practice. I will do the 3 hours training, then will probably do a couple more nearer the test date. Obviously if I get a pass, then it is just the start of the training!

Practice hitting the indicator as soon as you enter the turning and it will become a habit.

The road positioning is a tough one, you just need to try and demonstrate to the examiner that you are positively moving to the left or right prior to the turns.

Its easy after a while to get the balance between clutch and throttle, dont even use the rear brake anymore (I dont think I ever used it anyways )

I suppose the back brake is a necessary evil. i never used it when I had bikes in the past, so as well as getting used to being back on 2 wheels I also have to learn to use it!

Still....nevermind. Am doing 3 hours training Sunday week so I intend to crack the low speed stuff and work on road positioning........ damn I can't wait to get back to it (my impatience is not helped by my next door neighbour playing on his new ZX-10 which has just replace his RSV Mille)
