Im going to get my GCSE results today... Crying or Very sad
I know that ive done crap. 10 years of my life will decide at this point whether it was wasted or not.

I only need 4 a-c's to stay in my college course, not even sure ill get them.

Im going to meet up with aload of mates and go down at the same time, will end up drinking to either celebrate or drown our sorrows.

For possibly the first time in my life in genuinly worried.

Feck Crying or Very sad

I remember that feeling (was a long time ago now though) i'm sure you'll be fine, nothing is ever wasted. And if the worst does happen and you don't get your four, just look at the millionaires in the world, hardly any of them had a decent education. You could be next Smile

Has the postie not arrived yet ? Shocked
Some people are waiting for the results here !!

Laughing

My GCSE's are a vague memory
I know I got A-C's in all but one subject..

R.E. Me got an F in that Shocked
But who gives a sh*t about R.E. !? It was a filler subject
My teacher was off for 80% of the term, and she killed herself in the end
No wonder I got an F

I didn't do A levels, went straight onto a City & Guilds, then did an NVQ3

There are always options if you get total cruddy results

My OH got no GCSE's (couldn't be bothered), started off as a builder.. has been a London bus driver in his time. Now he is in a 30K+ IT job
All it takes is a little common sense and effort sometimes

Anyway.. chin up to all who get their results today
They will be great ! I can feel it in my water
Wink

chemistry: easy enough, ICT: piece of piss, Maths is very very hard going or at least I found it was. You will have to be prepared to work very hard.

I did utterly pants in my A level maths, this would have been due to several factors:

1. Our teacher was a cow-bag.
2. I had discovered that the local pub would serve us, even though we wore a sixth form uniform.
3. We had a double maths lesson on Friday mornings when my friend and I were still recovering from JBs the night before.
4. The final Pure exam had an unsolveable problem as the last question. The examination board did apologise for this but refused to adjust our marks accordingly.
5. It's really hard!

The above are all excuses, basically I found the Pure element nigh on impossible to understand!

Congratulations to all of you that passed (all 98.1% of you). Thumbs Up

Anyone that's at all upset about your grades - don't worry! The only time your O level results really matter is just after you got them. As long as your O level grades got your entry into sixth form/college (or that first job), you can now forget about them - except perhaps for Maths and English, which are sometimes a prerequisite for certain jobs and I would certainly recommend trying to get a grade C or better in those two subjects if you possibly can.

In a few years time you will either have some A levels or some job/career experience, which will both be much more important than your O levels. The same things goes for any A levels or diplomas in a couple of years time (degree or experience are more important) - my O/AO/A/S levels aren't even mentioned on my CV.

I only got 2 C's.* Embarassed

I've now got a nice wage, 3 bed detached house and a company car.

So if your results are bad it's not the end of the world.

*(I was a grade A lazy bastard at school)

O levels, I did nt have you down for being that old Laughing

Its true, after going to Uni or the first job or career, qualifications obtained at school meant nowt and its all about in house training and skills.

I done Chemistry, Pure Maths, Computing and Physics for my A-levels.

Chemistry was sooooo boring and dull. All we done was balancing shitty equations, so I ended up dropping that after getting an E in the AS exam for it Laughing and continuing with the rest.

Pure Maths was interesting, but also you have to work at it if you want a good grade. But all you need to do well is to learn the equations and practice a few problems then your ready.

Computing was also interesting, it was really easy. Again there were some equations and a bit of programming (easy programming in Visual Basic).

Physics was by far the most interesting and exciting subject. Loads of cool things to learn there. Again, just learn all the equations and laws and you will ace it.

I rekon the reason why I dropped the Chemistry is because there was not enough 'number crunching' and too much balancing of equations and other stuff to do with carbon atoms and moles etc. Not too mention the write-ups for experiments and all that jazz. That is probably the reason why I enjoyed maths, physics and computing.

A 2 hoyr lesson with a experiment plan, you had to read, perform the experiment, interpret the data and write the review Rolling Eyes

All I remember is making TCP and aspirin once Laughing

I spent most of the lesson being told off for talking and chatting up the girls.
