I just realised that GCSE results came out this week , and what does this mean?

It means that it has been ten years since I left high school , and my thoughts turn to others, I haven't really kept in touch with more than a couple of people since school and even those are semi distant acquaintances. (I guess the promises to keep in touch all fell by the way side)

In a moment of madness I thought hows about a high school reunion ?

What are your experiences ?

Good/bad?

I used to be the joker in school who did quite well , an opportunity to gloat (bad) , or to find out if that girl you had an unrequited crush on ? , the dreams vs reality?

Or is that part of my life over and should never ever be revisited? , Maybe its the notion of coming back to the town where I sort of grew up since the past year and a bit I've been all over the country working temp jobs to build my experience up.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I left school 6 years ago. Kept in touch with a lot of people at first. Now its one or 2 but very rarely do we speak.
We were classed as the 'millenium' kids and had a time capsel/plaque put up.
there was talk of a reunion in a few yrs time.
But i dunno if id like to do it.

I very rarely bump into people that I went to school with, but when I do, I find that it's really difficult to get past the "so who do you keep in touch with" conversation.
Even people that I was pretty close to during my school years are strangers. The one's who count are the ones that you have always stayed in contact with and play a part in your current life.
Other than that, chances are You will find that the only thing you have in common with these people is that you went to school together!
Yes it's nice to see how they turned out, but on a personal level it's a waste of time.

I left school 8 years ago and it feels like a century ago. So much has happened in that short space of time. I found most my mates again on the internet or strangly i met them as work collegues a few time.

Oh my god, oh my god...shit, now I do feel a tad old, I left school 19 years ago! I wish they did a reunion at my school...I could go back looking all sassy and skinny, with no kids, no debts, no mortgage - and ride up on my motorbike...that would be bloody awesome!

I would just love to see some of the people who used to bully me (I got bullied by girls and boys alike...got proper kickings...) and then I would kick some butt myself with my incredible wit and humour Twisted Evil

Nah, seriously it would be cool!

We kind of did have a high school reunion when i got married, as it was with the guy i went to school with. We were 21 then (so 5 years later) the groom i dated at school, the 2 best men were our best friends at school, 1 of my bridesmaids was my best girlfriend from school and there was about another 15 people from our year there to celebrate with us.

I still see my ex for the kids, i live with my bridesmaid, one of the best men moved to spain this year but we still talk on the phone...and as for the other best man, thats a story i really dont want to go into right now... suffice to say we are no longer on speaking terms.

So apart from emma and james, i dont really see anyone else anymore, but a reunion would be kind of awkward Wink Laughing

Oh dear, these can cause trouble and can be fun, if not both at the same time.

I had one a few years ago, 4 marrages have now hit the rocks and it has reopened old friendships.

I enjoyed it.

I'd go to one at my old school but there would only be about three of us as all the rest of the cockheads would be lying in a gutter or rotting in a cell

On a slightly more serious note i keep in touch with about 3 people from school and one of them has been my best mate since we were 11

I left 15 years ago and my six closest friends now are all mates from school. We were always a pretty close knit bunch and I seriously believe our bond was strengthened when one of our “gang” topped himself when we were 16. Emotional times. Crying or Very sad

Not particularly interested in seeing any other people I went to school with. Probably all bankers or politicians now (yeah it was that sort of school).

I generally see the guys and their families most weeks although some have moved further away in recent years, but we keep in touch on MSN. Four of us are meeting up on the Bank Holiday round my place with all the wives and kiddies etc… Thumbs Up

I left school 4 years ago.

And I hardly speak to any of them any more, because most of them were wankers then, and most of them are wankers now.

Only got on with them at school, because it's not like i had a choice.

I'd say of the 30-40 people i 'knew' at school, i'm only in regular contact with 7-8 of them.

Suits me fine. Made loads of new friends that i click with better.
