Been looking at chains and the Oxford Monster looks great however I read a report from the NEC that said it can be chopped in about 3 seconds!

The Almax Imobiliser 3 is said to be the best chain around.

Anyone suggest a good chain?

I see on their website says it's impervious to bolt croppers, a bold statement, but I can't recall seeing a test of that lock anywhere though...

Still most thieves will also carry a petrol angle grinder if they really want it, and that'll grind through most things anyway.

I use a Motrax Superlink English Chain. Here's a link to the Motrax website page but for some reason it doesn't sem to be showing the pictures very well.

https://www.motrax.co.uk/Index_pages/security/englishchainsuperlink.htm

I think that this chain is pretty good, but remember no matter what chain you have, it isn't infallible. It they really want your bike they will have it no matter what.

Some people recommend the Almax chains as being very good - they are supposedly unable to be cropped by hand. But you give me any chain you like, and I'll put a gas axe through a link of it in a few seconds, in relative silence. No I'm not a bike thief, but I'm just pointing out to you that nothing is 100% safe. Just make things as hard as possible for bike thieves.

ummm I have the same motrax chain has a good write up on the web site but alas like most good chains they are (ok to use at home but! )wayyyyy heavy and not good to take with you on a trip.other than taking your bike to bed with you or in to the same hotel room :0 (staff not to keen) then a trusty alarm and a good light weight lock long enough to attach it to a lamp post or some other post with a good disc lock is good... unless you can get hold of that klingon cloaking device

Thinking of getting one myself. Probably go for the Almax.

It's about the best you can hope for. Of course no chain will stand up to a grinder or cutting torch attack but if your thiefs are so brash and fearless that they would risk using this type of attack they are probably the type you wouldn't want to mess with anyway.

The latest Almax is HUGE Shocked

It's the newer Series-4 you want though. 19mm links!! I have the series three and the 16mm links on that is mahusive.

Almax all the way for a decent chain. Thumbs Up

Be aware that the Series 4 is so big it will only fit certain ground anchors, so check before you buy.
