Hi,
I've a datatool alarm fitted to my '98 Ducati, but it's forgotten the keyfob. I've tried everything known to man to reprogram the unit from holding down keys in various combinations to dismantling the alarm unit and removing the battery for 48 hours, all to no avail.

Can anyone recommend a datatool expert in the High Wycombe, Bucks area - garage or otherwise?
Cheers

I can do better.

Go to www.datatool.co.uk and you can download the manual that'll tell you how.

If it doesn't work let me know and I will help you go through some diagnostics. Thumbs Up

I have just bought a 2001 Speed Triple fitted with a datatool alarms system.
The problem is the previous owner has had it disconnected.

The wireing loom has been disconnected from PCB and presumably the internal battery bridge connector has been removed. This was done at least two years ago.

My question is, has anybody any idea what the procedure is for reconnecting the system correctly (avoiding 'spikes' etc.) ?

I need to know if there is a way (using the genuine keyfobs) of finding what pin number was set by the previous owner as the bike didn't come with one. Bar trying to set a fresh one (involving taking off the plastics to find the in-line fuse) and seeing if it works, I'm a little stumped...

As far as I know its impossible to find the PIN number using the key fob (security reasons).

The previous owner may have it writen down somewhere so try contacting them but then you definitely want to change the PIN.

The original dealer / fitter will be able to tell you which in-line fuse was used, come to that any dealer that fits Datatools will be able to tell you which fuse is used.

I thoroughly recommend that you change the PIN using the information contained in the user manual which is available as a PDF download from Datatool.

The dealer stated "it doesn't have one" when asked about the PIN (as I downloaded and read the manual prior to getting the bike) but I'm not sure if he meant "It's never been set" or "They never told us what it was".

I'll find the fuse and try setting the PIN as if settung up from new. If it complains then it's back to the garage to find the number...

i'd be interested to know how to do this, i dont know the pin for my alarm, and i am concerned as if something happens to the alarm and i need to input the pin code, i could end up disabling my bike :/

Chances are your alarms don't have a pin No. stored.

Dealers do not set them as customers have been known to accuse them of stealing their bikes so we tell the new alarm owner to read the manual and set it themselves. They never bother.

There is NO PIN number set by default.

Unless the owner sets a PIN No. there is no way the bike can be started if for instance your key fob batteries go dead.

As stated above full instructions for setting a PIN No. are included in the user manual. If you have lost or mislaid the manual its downloadable from https://www.datatool.co.uk/, just go to their support section.

Will set one. As if on cue, went to fill her up last night and the spare fob I had taken only disarmed her when pressed against the tank... Shocked

Going to set the pin just in case and grab some spare batteries... Smile
