Hello just joined, my names grant and hi to all!! I have this in off road too but not sure if its better in here with being mechanical?
I Bought a 1990 cr 250 yesterday, guy lived in a town so couldent test it out, just drove it up a road when it was cold that was that. it took a few kicks to start. Anyway went to go out on it today and kicked it and kicked and kicked!!! put a new plug in kicked and kicked u get the picture! Heated the plug kicked about another twenty times and it fired! Yipee let it warm up for 5 mins, took it out in the fields still felt cold, drove it about and opened it up just kept running like it was cold!! Just seems dead on power, then it got worse, got it close to home started being real bad pulled back the throtle hardly any power, then it was like it had a rev limiter puut puut puut on it! Switched it off tried to kick it to see if it would start when hot guess what nope! Please help me!!

I'd start by cleaning the carb and put fresh fuel in it, two stroke can go off when it's just sitting in the tank.

i'll give that i try tomorrow thanks, it hasent had a run since christmas time i think and done alot of sitting about in the past 3 years! i put new springs on the manifold today, but theres still a slight gap as the bike shop didnt have any o-rings, i put some sealent round it, but there is a slight blow. Could this be giving the (cold )engine feeling? cant understand the rev limiter type of problem? Rolling Eyes

I put my ZZR1100 off the road for the winter last year and had a pig of a time trying to start it in April, it felt very flat and didn't want to rev, drained the fuel and put it in the lawn mower (tight arse Scottish Git), with new fuel it went like a rocket again.

Before i rode it i did a bit of maintnice to it, one of which was putting on new exhaust springs. The bike shop didnt have any exhaust o-rings so i tried to make do with a sealant, it was blowing a bit at the manifold but this would'ent cause such big running issues would it? When i was tring to get it to start inspected the plug for a spark and noticed it was non-exsitant till i gave it a hard kick??? It was a new plug too.

you might want to PM a mod and ask them to merge your two threads as this could get confusing.
