...browsing BCF in just my pants. Shocked

It's just too hot. Has anyone bought an air conditioning unit - I'm thinking about the ones you see for about £100.

Do they work well enough to chill an average sized room?

I keep my office icy cold during the day then go to the gym where it's far too hot, then spend the rest of the evening too hot at home. I need office levels of heat at home.

At work we use those ones that stand about three feet high, you put the pipe out the window, and keep the door to the room in question closed ... you can adjust the temperature, it has a thermostat of some sort that turns off when it gets to that temperature, and then back on again.

Sometimes they have little water tanks that you have to empty if its really humid, but often they have a little light on the panel to tell you it needs emptying.

I think they retail for about £70 in Woolworths in the summer time.

They work pretty well in the summer, considering how hot and sweaty it can be in this particular business, the girls in general are quite happy with them, and the customers often appreciate walking into a wonderfully chilled bedroom.

My room gets really hot in the summer. Those £100 jobs will do the job in a normal sized bedroom, but when the temp goes up to 30+ they really struggle. It was never 'cold' in my room like proper air con, just 'not as hot'.

It's not the heat that so much would bother us Brits, moreso the stupid humidity we get that is often associated with the heat.

To me, I could sit outside in Gran Canaria with temperatures about 40 degrees C and not complain about it being hot.

Stick me in a room in Britain at 25-30 degrees C outside temperature and i'll be sweating buckets.

I was walking around my flat stark bollock naked last night (it was still hot even though it's been pissing down), when a female friend of mine decided to come round for a coffee.

Most embarrasing moment ever.
